I think that because of his 'overexposure' to the world, he is realizing that it is not as pure as he once thought. because of this, he is angry and this may be a factor in his distancing from religion. "I have seen beasts bathed in glory, tread across the angels as they crawl. Take it all away. Regress to nothing. Can someone please take these images from my mind?" He is upset with himself for fantasizing about religion being tread upon as he still wants to remember the world when it was pure to him; but he cannot forgive them for the lies they have used to veil the truth. He still wants to have faith and hope for purity, but cannot. I think this is a theme revisited in other songs, such as a few on Sing The Sorrow |

I see this song as being about the subject killing himself. I envision him climbing up the stairs to the roof of a building while trying to find a reason not to kill himself "Ascending slowly with hopes of finding one small moment of clarity I escape the blackness cast upon me. " And then talking about his plan on jumping, with the one who led him to this decision: "Immobile lights will fly tonight. We'll watch them pass together as we part the rising sky." The immobile lights would be the lights in all the buildings surrounding him in the city. And as he falls, theyll fly by him. "Tightly bound we'll chase the ground, I won't die without you. Descending quickly with hopes of sharing all the things you've shared with me, I'll chase the digital eye's below me. Through them you'll see as I fall with digital omniscient eyes capturing me one last time for you. Tomorrow you will see. " To me, this is him as he jumps, killing himself and, figuratively, the person who led him to this "tightly bound, we'll chase the ground" - by falling from above down towards the ground. The digital eyes would be cameras, perhaps the news, capturing his fall. "tomorrow you will see When you see me soaring and the lights are screaming, you'll forget me not." This is talking about how the other person will find out in the news and it will be so traumatic that the person won't be able to forget and it will kill a piece of them inside, thereby dying, in a sense, together with the jumper. "Descending quickly with hopes of sharing all the things you've shared with me" I'm not too sure what i think of this line, but I think it that his suicide is payback, in that, he hopes to cause the 2nd person as much greif as they caused him in leading him to the suicide. |

the album actually starts with the song after this(Bleed Black), making this the last track on the album. If you look at the album booklet this is apparent by the thick double lines separating the leaving song pt 2 from bleed black. With this track order, Miseria and LSP2 follow This Time Imperfect. I'm not too sure about this, but i think the album continues where the Art of Drowning left off. In Morningstar, davey sings "I don't want to die tonight" and then in Bleed Black from STS he sings "I know I died that night and I'll never be brought back to life again" ...just a thought also, davey has never written a love song. in one of his songs(smile) he even states this. After talk about ending the world he says "and then I'll write my first love song" indicating that he hasn't written one before and doesnt plan to. |

| In the bible, Jesus is known as the Morningstar, as well as Lucifer. This is stated in chapter 2 and also at the end of the book of revelations (i think chapter 22). maybe this points to an internal conflict within the singer between good and bad, and heaven and hell | |
