I think that this is to do with a lot of things It could have some things to do with when he was ill in hospital, with the 'god is going to take me out' line. |

| KoЯn – Ever Be Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Yeah, I agree with everyone else I think that this song most probably has quite a bit to do with Head giving the band a bad reputation, but I don't think that the song is entirely about him because if you read the lyrics it says 'Knew you will strike again', which would mean that he would have to have wronged them before or upset one of the band members previously [during his time in the band.] |

| Slipknot – Skin Ticket Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I like how they call their fans maggots I think it's in a fond way and not in an unfriendly way like some may interpret This song is awesome I think it is a view of life and society When there are so many people there is nothingness. It is pointless and people continue to keep going and trying and shit, but really they are doing it for no point because they die and rot and nothing else happens. |

| Fear Before – Given To Dreams Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I think this song is about a broken dream and the decay of it the "she cried when she found it" part makes me think of a bird, and I think that the bird may have been a metaphor for a dream, maybe cause birds fly high up in the air and dreams are sometimes too high up for us to reach. When it says "wings were no longer able, still she begged it to fly" I think it's kind of that the dream hit rock bottom but she was desperate for it to 'soar' again, for it to come true. When it says that she "prayed it to heaven" I think it means that she's finally realised that her dream will never come true and so she's resigning all hope and laying it to rest. Or maybe it's simply talking about a dead bird. |

| Kittie – Brackish Lyrics | 18 years ago |

I agree with FireDemon666 btw about everyone giving the opposite sex to themselves a bad time you cant judge the majority by one or too guys could just as easily say that girls suck ass blah blah blah |
| Kittie – Brackish Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I don't think it's wrong for guys to like Kittie lol. I just think that most of the band members have had bad experiences with guys, but hey I don't mind listening to music made by guys who have had bad experiences with girls =P It seems to me to be about somebody who is very dependant on someone else, and the person that they are dependant on knows it and is using their weakness to control them. =D Go Kittie they rule. |

Right okay I had had HAD to comment this because I know it sounds dumb and all but I used to see it as like a guy and a girl and the guy feels like he shouldnt have let the girl in [through his door or something] I mean I know it's pretty stupid and all but I am feeling a bit like that now, except with my friends and not with a guy and it made me think that the let you in bit is letting a person into your emotions, when you know what they're like and they're only going to hurt you. I feel better now I've told someone =] |

I think ConfederateFag is right I really like If I Was Your Vampire and Heartshaped-Glasses. I never really was a Marilyn Manson Fan to the extent where I've heard most of the songs...to be honest I was always wrapped up with other artists. I've only ever heard Tainted Love, The Nobodies, The Beautiful People, Heart-Shaped Glasses and If I was your Vampire [ by MM that is] Maybe I'll start listening more... |

discluded666 - how do you know Joey doesn't mean any of those lyrics that he wrote? Do you know him personally? Because if you don't you can't really say that you know for sure that he doesn't mean any of what he said in that song I love this song it's my second favourite SlipKnoT song after Eyeless. The improvisation at the end adds this amazing build up in my opinion. I love how it's two of the band members lyrics mixed together and I love how Corey sounds so filled with emotions at the end. The bit that Joey wrote sounds like giving up to me. Waiting it out. |

| Slipknot – Circle Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I don't really like this song =/ It seems a bit sappy compared to all of the others but I guess it's a different side of SlipKnoT I just hope they don't turn into StoneSour. The "give me the dust of my father's" reminds me of catholic school... =S Catholic's refer to God as 'Father' and every year there's a church day called ash wednesday in which all of the palms from last years palm sunday are burnt and then put onto Catholic's foreheads as a reminder of God. Geddit? Father...Ashes? I think this song is sort of about being content with what you have, already having everything that you need and want. I think it's kind of about having had fufilled your dreams already. Read the lyrics and you'll get what I mean =] |

| KoЯn – Hey Daddy Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Ha Everyone's getting all bitchy Do you realise that like 10 people have already claimed to have Schizophrenia There's this girl in my class at school and if Jon did have schizophrenia I think they were on like the same level of it she made all of these creepy lists and heard voices telling her to kill all of her friends =/ Interesting ey? Anyway I can't honestly say that I understand what the song is about but tbh I'm a bit to tired to think straight so I haven't studied the lyrics in detail all I know is that from what I've heard it was certainly not Jon's Father who raped him and it wasn't his Mother either. Can somebody please explain the whole "Mr.Rogers" thing to me? |

| Slipknot – The Heretic Anthem Lyrics | 18 years ago |
lol yacantfademe I listen to SlipKnoT every night before I go to sleep and I don't wake up stabbing myself in the leg screaming for my parents =] Although maybe that's because I don't have access to knives in my bedroom? Hmmm....I'll have to test that theory I don't get why people bother posting comments on a website where they are supposed to be dechipering the meaning of a song with a load of crap about how the fans are all weird or shizz like that. Quite frankly it's Pathetic, but there you go, people that post shite are pathetic. Anyway, I think that this song is about how the media tries to control bands like they are 'toys' so that the music that they make is more commerical, therefore selling a larger amount of records and giving the record labels, managers or whatever a load of profit. It's about how SlipKnoT aren't going to do that, and they aren't going to make up fake problems just so that they can get a load of kids into mindlessly following them and buying their highly priced merchandise. It's about how the pubilic is obsessed with the media and is constantly bitching, but they don't really know the people behind the music so 'face to face they haven't got a thing to say' [I bleed for this and I bleed for you] this shows that the person that writes the music and lyrics etc kind of bleeds out their problems into a song, but people don't actually understand the lyrics and so bitch about it. A bit like yacantfademe here. The whole 555 666 thing could be this: It could be trying to say that 777 are the media, who are superior to the band, and 555 are the public, who mindlessly follow the band [like sheep.] 666 Is the middle number, and not the vast maority. The few who are being influenced to do things that they are uncomfortable with as this wasn't the dream that they had hoped to fufill. It could also simply mean that 555 is one thing [the vast majority] and 666 is another, a thing considered to be evil and bad because 666 is a number associated with Satan and all that. I think it's basically a kind of FUCK YOU to the media for trying to control bands into producing music that is meaningless. |

| Mindless Self Indulgence – Shut Me Up Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I think that this song is about having all of the material possessions that you want already, and feel as though your life is becoming like a repetitive cycle [notice how the bass the rock the mic the treble is repeated several times] and so you're just willing someone to 'shut you up' get some excitement from fighting someone or something. It's not an uncommon feeling, I don't think. |

| Slipknot – Feel No Shame/Look at Me (feat. Korn) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| The first time I heard this song it was titled "Queen Of The Damned." I think that they used it on the actual queen of the damned movie, so that gives me a feeling that this is about Vampires. And before anyone starts going on at me saying that "not all rock songs are about vampires and blood you know" I know that already, it's just because the movie is based on a book called Queen on The damned by Anne Rice which was about vampires, leading me to assume that the song is about vampires. or giving into a temptation to do something inhuman to gain from it yourself. Awesome song though, I really like it. I'm not sure whether it was for the same movie or not, but I think that Korn did a song with Sepultura called Look Away. You should try that song too, it's awesome. =] | |
| Slipknot – Carve Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I don't like the voices at the start "They're doing something rather curious with the parts of the body..." Over and over again But the rest of the song is cool =] I like songs of Crowz and MFKR - they're some of the better SlipKnoT songs in my opinion. I prefer songs off this album to the ones of Volume 3, that has been my least favourite album by SlipKnoT so far. The voices at the beginning sounds like something off one of those movies where someone is trying to imitate an English accent, and they come across sounding like a posh noob. I'm from Manchester in England and I don't sound like a posh up-my-own-arse noob! I also don't walk around wearing a top hat and suit and smoking a pipe! |
| Slipknot – Do Nothing/Bitchslap Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This song is amazing If you listen to the later songs by SlipKnoT it just shows you how much they have changed their style. Mate.Feed.Kill.Repeat is my second-favourite SlipKnoT album, after Iowa. Contrary to DisposableT33n, I love the jazz parts. I think that it adds a bit of an edge to the song. It seems to me that it is a lot less serious than all of the other SlipKnoT songs, which is probably one of the reasons I like it. I think this song is about the social hierachy of society. "Fuck your position in life". |

| Deftones – Change (In the House of Flies) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I think it's about somebody watching someone who had it all crashing and burning, and the person that was watching laughed at their faliure "I pulled off your wings then I laughed" I think it's about the person making the high-flyer feel degraded because the person watching this all happen is scornful because they are jealous of the success that the high-flyer once had, so when they crash and burn they take great pleasure in making them feel shitty and rubbing it in their face as they "laugh". |

Anemia is a deficieny of the blood in which you don't have enough iron. Anemic is the name given to people that suffer from Anemia. Anemia leaves you feeling weak and sometimes makes your skin pale. I like the contrast between 'Anemia' and 'King', because kings are considered to be powerful and anemia makes you feel weak. Interesting song, I really like it. The singing gives me the chills =] |

| Fear Before – On The Bright Side, She Could Choke Lyrics | 19 years ago |
This part really stands out to me I was thinking about it loads and then I thought hey I may as well write it on here it's the line "the salt to garnish his wounds" Now let me see... SALT salt is a preservative, so it could mean the she is keeping his wounds open by repeatedly manipulating him then I thought that salt is also used to heal things but it stings so it could mean that the pleasure he gets from been around the person that he loves is like salt, it stings as the pain from the last time he got hurt by her begins to fade, but then there's the fact that salt is a preservative, so it could mean that as the hurt is beginning to fade it comes back because the salt [spending time with her] isn't enough to heal all of the past hurt because his wounds are repetitively opened by her mainuplative ways |

| Fear Before – The Lisbon Girls, Oh The Lisbon Girls Lyrics | 19 years ago |
This song screams SUICIDE at me. I reckon it's about nothing seeming fufilled in your life. The line that made me think that is 'this empty shell' and so you try to take your life because you are so unhappy [you try to hang yourself from a chandelier] but your Father finds you before you die and cuts you down 'Father don't you cut the rope I want to die here' 'Faces on! Faces on!' Kind of says to me that you are desperate to prove your existence, along with 'Son comes home to take solace in his mirror', almost as though you feel so invisible you need to look in the mirror to reassure yourself that you are still there, you are a person. 'The stains of God's loving embrace still ripe around his throat' makes me think about the wounds from where the rope has cut into your neck. I think the thing about God's loving embrace is the rope, how you can be given life by God [not that I believe that fairytale] and then it can be taken away by a piece of ropey shit. The stains are the wounds, it kind of says to me that life is a cruel thing that leaves you scarred [stains don't always last obviously but I think that this means staining of soul, like emotional scars] 'The sirens must flock to a new destination' is the sounds of the ambulance going to somebody else because he has been saved by his own Father. Does anybody else notice the kind of ties between 'Father' and 'God'. Nobody on this website would have been born if it weren't for our Fathers, even if they are absent now. I guess it kind of means that the Father cutting him down is that his Father brought him into this world and his Father stopped him from taking his own life. Anybody get what I mean? |

| Fear Before – Go Wash Your Mouth...I Don't Know Where It's Been Lyrics | 19 years ago |
It sounds to me like: there's this guy who likes a girl that he can't have however, he already has a girlfriend [pretend she is you, pretend you are mine] it sounds as though he has one of those houses where his room can see straight into her's in the distance. [My house is like that]...[not that I stare into other peoples windows =S] It sounds as though the guy has developed a kind of obsession with this girl so he is creating elaborate fantasies in which extreme things happen to him that has to draw the girls attention towards him. The part where it says 'I keep the lights off, I know you're right here' sounds like he is watching her from his room/a room where he can see straight into hers, and he doesn't put a light on while watching her so that he can see straight into her room. It also sounds as though he has some issues with wanting to control people. I guess you could get a kind of drive from watching someone without them knowing that you are doing so, and the whole part where it says 'no matter what you can't say no to me in my dreams' [fantasies where he can get her to do exactly as he wants.] I really like this song, especially when it kinda goes into "she cried when she found it, it's feathers where matted and pressed to it's sides" that's damn beautiful. I could write a novel on this song =] Ex's |

| KoЯn – Lies Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I think that this song is about all of your problems eating at you from the inside. I think it's about how when you lie to cover up your problems they just add too your problems because then you have the guilt of lies eating at your conciensce too. You should just face up too your problems, rather than being constantly plagued by them and all the lies that you've told to cover them up. I like Jon's lyrics, I think they're cool =] All that shizzle about is what it means to me so please refrain from calling me stupid and an idiot just cause yew don't agree. I find that immensely immature and annoying. Ex's | |
| Slipknot – My Plague Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Does nobody else see how ironic these conversations that people post are? One person says a band is stupid another person says that you're stupid if you don't listen to them and that the bands that the person who said were stupid in the first place are stupid it's all kinda... stupid don't you think? I never used to like SlipKnoT until about a year and a half ago. I was actually embarrased that I liked them at first because my mates said they were weird and made fun of me for it so I lied and said I didn't. Now I realise that you shouldn't be embarrased of the things that have meaning to you and that you enjoy. I take pride in the fact that I like SlipKnoT music now. Some of the songs I can really relate to the lyrics but others I can't, but that doesn't really matter cause you can always kinda feel the singer's emotions from the way they sing it. I can with SlipKnoT which is why they're music is important to me. This song makes me think about people trying to make you feel small, when they themselves have their own problems cause they have fatarsed egos. The lyrics go on to say that "I'm just a bastard but at least I'll admit it, at least I'll admit it" after saying that they're "turning it around like a knife in the shell I wanna understand why but I'm hurting myself" that makes me think that they fight back verbally, and they can't understand why the person puts them through all of this bullshit, and then they realise that they have been a bastard because they have sank to the level of the other person. The "I know why you blame me" makes me think of a person taking their problems out on somebody else and the "I know why you plague me" makes me think of what I said earlier, about the person fighting back and realising that they have sank to a low level. The plague could be how things spread when somebody is making you feel like shit, and you fight back and realise that you yourself have sank to that person's level. Like a diasese it spreads. That probably won't make sense to you but it makes an awful lot of sense to me |

| Fear Before – Consequences David, You'll Meet Your Fate In The Styx Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I think that this song is about the lead singer David dealing with drugs or problems like that in the past. The reference to "I keep them in the medicine cabinet but you should see what I keep in my closet" makes me think that he's talking about keeping drugs or something of the sort in a medicine cabinet but there are much worse things inside his head "My head flies high, the birds think I'm one of their own" that line makes me think of getting high and kind of gliding like a bird does [things seeming easier because of the drugs] "the battle of me versus me and no one wins" makes me think of a battle with his conscience, kind of is this the right thing to do type of thing and the "talk to me" thing could be someone wanting him to tell them about his problems which could tie in with the "you see you've sold me quick fixes in the past"... that could mean that he has told them about his problems before but not delved deeper into it "but you should see what I keep in my closet" hmmm... that's all I could get out of it anyway |

| Cradle of Filth – Born In A Burial Gown Lyrics | 19 years ago |
S'like Outland said, who says you can't be happy and like Cradle Of Filth music? This girl on the school bus I get sometimes asks me to share headphones with her, so I do and she always complains about how depressive my music is and how can I listen to it? Well listening to Cradle Of Filth doesn't make me depressed. It makes me happy. Because that's the music I like. And stuff I like makes me happy. It's a bit of an obvious answer really isn't it? And another answer to that could be like what someone else I know said [also a COF fan] "If I'm miserable then knowing other people are more miserable than me can make me happy." So whatever the hell you think, it's not like all rock songs are all "ooooh Im so depressed...." you could easily say the same about bloody well akon. "lonelllllyyy Im mister lonely I have nobody" so screw anyone who thinks everything that falls into the category of rock music is immediatly depression. =] Just thought I'd say that. Oh I've probably contradicted myself in several places of that speech but ignore it. RedFlag is an arseface. |

| Rise Against – Paper Wings Lyrics | 19 years ago |
This was the first and only Rise Against song I have ever heard. It brought a bit of a new edge to all of the music I started to like, which I don't like anymore because I kind of progressed. But anyway I respect this song is what I mean to say...Moving on: This song is about people wasting all of their potential "ive watched you fly on paper wings halfway around the world until they burned up in the atmosphere and sent you spiraling down" Is a reference to Iscarus, which is some sort of legendy thingy. Yeah so this Iscarus dude and his Dad were been imprisoned, and to make a break for it they made these wingy thingies out of wax, and before they flew off away from the prisony place Iscarus' Dad told him not to fly too close to the sun. So kiddies, what did Iscarus do? That's right he dared to fly next to the sun, and his wax wings melted and so he fell down down down and landed in the sea and drowned. So basically that line adds to the songs theme of wasting your potential where yew could be sky high yew kinda fall rock bottom. "theres a train leaving town in an hour its not waiting for you and neither am I" that line is saying that whoever is talking about this person wasting their potential doesn't want to wait around anymore for them to start using it and getting where they should be in life. "'swing for the fences son' they must have told you once that was a conversation you took nothing from" means that they were told continuously to try their best but they never did. Well...hope that helped a little =] |

| KoЯn – I'm Hiding Lyrics | 19 years ago |
This probably isn't right but to me this is a song about trying to get away from reality, trying to escape it to a place where you can truly be happy. What makes me think that is this part of the song: I'm trying to find a better way But I'm trapped, can't get away All I think is about yesterday I could fly To me that's really saying that they [the person] sometimes looks back on times/memories that were better than the situation that they are in now and they just want to escape from it because it isn't enough to make them want to live. The words Maybe I'm insane Walking on a wire Maybe I'm the same Nothing to take me higher say to me that they're on the edge but maybe theyre the same as other people because they have nothing to make them happier. Well that's what it means to me anyway. Call me an idiot all you like but the meaning will be different to everyone. =] Ex's |
