So, if Linus is right (and he makes a damn fine argument), then I guess my brother was being actually quite perceptive when he said this sounded like "funeral music," and not (like I thought) a total douchebag.

| Rilo Kiley – And That's How I Choose to Remember It Lyrics

I do agree with CarouselofPictures that this song is creepy, but I still love it - it moves me somehow.
However, I think it's pretty brilliant that it isn't on the album as a unified track because the way that it is presented -- as seemingly disconnected addendum -- forces the listener to take notice. That's certainly how I first noticed this song, and it made me want to go back and listen again, and then to finally look up the lyrics. So I don't really think the song was meant to be buried or hidden, really. It would be much easier to skip over one track than the endings of three separate songs.
Ultimately, I think the song's freaky-cool, and very clever (like every other RK song!) |

this song so amazingly and completely fucking rules! brody is the kind of chick i wish i had the guts to be - tough, strong, and a bad-ass rockin punker! so jealous. plus her voice is so beautiful (even though it's not comventionally so) and raw and compelling - it actually drew me in to the band when I heard Seneca Falls on tony hawk 4 - I hunted the band down. had to have them! |

when this first came out I was a bit too young to appreciate her - but I remember the video and thinking that it was cool at the time. recently I rediscovered her through a friend, and am hooked.
what's really amazing is how solid a lyricist she is that she could overcome the evil pop music system and recording labels' interference and still produce an amazing, brilliant and cleverly writting song. kudos fiona! plus her voice is utterly gorgeous... wonderful! |

I just love how it's makes a mockery of Americana and the American, and points out how dysfunctional the family in the song actually is. plus it's just fun to listen to - it's absolutely amazing! |
