I think this is important for everyone to know. This song is about a little girl who was killed by a drunk driver. I heard this story a long time ago, so I'm a little foggy on the details. Basically, in the band's hometown, there was a wedding. There was a 7 year old girl named Katie, who was the flower girl at the wedding (her aunts). She left seperately of the family.. they decided that the limo driver would take her home. Her mother and fam were behind/driving by the limo.. And the limo got hit by a drunk driver. Her mother saw this. Katie was decapitated("head in my hands and smiling") is about her mother holding her head on the side of the road. So, the first part of the song is probably from the mother's point of view. The 2nd? probably the drunk drivers. It's a super sad TRUE story, and I think Brand new did a beautiful job of sounding super sincere, super serious. Beautiful. Awesome for Brand New, terrible for everyone that was hurt by this. Look it up. Katie Flynn. My favourite part of the song is "You explode, you firefly, you tiny boat with oars" Even if I'm not sure thats the right lyrics. All I can say is, after hearing the story.. It makes this song so much more bonecrushingly haunting and beautiful. |

"the blood's gone cold but you wouldn't know" .. to respond to this, I think that he doesnt feel the passion anymore, but it's not known to her. like.. he knows of her betrayal and has stopped feeling anything for her.. but she thinks she has him beat. :) lovely song Mr. Pickett. Lovely. |

"Don't wanna be so wide awake" "make me forget what I've done, what I've become". I just think this is another amazing song on Hospital Music. I dont necessarily know what Matthew was thinking when he wrote this, but all I know is that its a beautiful song, along with the record. I can relate to this song, and thats all I need to know. |

I cant get over this song. Its so angry and repressed. Without being whiney and wishful. Its.. amazing. The way it opens up in the beginning. First song on the cd and I was like okayyy what is this? And all of a sudden you've fallen for it. Sansquatch.. Thats my favourite part. Because its sung with gritted teeth. Its completely open and emotional. I just cant believe this album is for real. And its so real. Its so harsh and textured and completely out there. Theres no hiding, no sugar coating, no meanings being altered to make it rhyme.. Thats whats so beautiful. The whole thing is scarred and rough. |

even if these are the actual things jesse says.. the band wanted these to be the lyrics. I think listening to the song and reading these lyrics make you understand that its not all about the written word. Its a combination of everything. I like it better. It gives way for the person listening to it to have their own interpretation. Cuz really, thats what music is all about. what you feel about it, what it makes you feel. its not always about solving the riddle(although, the riddle of limosine has made me appreciate that song like so much more, and the band so much more) |
