Dave is mad for someone he can't have/can't have him...he says "This space between us Where wingless dreams fall earless Will you not bear me witness With your back to me now" I mean...he talks about this space between OFTEN. He seems to be literally 'aching' for someone in most of his songs...Wow! That is an amazing type of love... |

| Dave Matthews Band – Grey Street (Busted Stuff version) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Isn't this song is palainly about abuse? Seems pretty apparent...no? Not every song needs to be taken in a metaphoric context. Maybe she is literally bleeding?! The man outside the door is the guy who is beating her. The part where he writes she says nothing about what she thinks...most people who are abused hide it because of embarassment or fear of retaliation from the abuser. | |
| Dave Matthews Band – Captain (Busted Stuff version) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| This is about a fantasy. The fantasy is the ship. When he closes his eyes he is the Captain. Day after day he "longs" for this girl he can't have...only in his fantasies...he's literally got "all night" to fantasize. "The way your smile lights up under your eyes"...he ADORES her from far away quietly...the mutiny is the desire for it to be more than a fantasy. I don't see it as lust as much as love in it's purest form...his heart is aching... | |
