never give you my pillow (sleepless) send invitations (desire) celebrations (happyness) break down (sad) I am sleepless I am filled with desire Happyness makes me sad non literal sounds to me like someone was having trouble getting over the idea of something. the weight is a mental one, so that's obvious. it was such a troubeling thought they lost sleep over it and caused them to become depressed. literal They want someone to be there, but apparently not to sleep with them. they probably come, but their presence makes them break down inside, or them being there makes them celebrate, but also feel safe enough to break down. Or they don't come, but then im not sure why the celebration.. well you only send out invitations to weddings funerals or birthday parties. and it could be any one of the three... or all three. although im going to go with wedding or party since there is celebration going on. the person is obviously important, but never became intimate, (or never close enough to live with), or they simply gave them a hard time and never cut them any slack.... and they've thought about that a lot, carrying that weight, so when the person arrives it causes a very visceral reaction and they break down. or they never arrive and their absence/memory makes them break down. OR MAYBE!! they had a tune in mind and the words just popped in their head becuase they fit with the rhythm and melody they had in mind and they never could think of anything better to replace them with, so it stuck. yeah i think its that last one... (stop reading too much into you're idols songs... their not all master poets) |

i know everyone's all gung ho for the lyric to be "feel a slip in the alkalide", or "fell asleep in the alkalide"... or "the incline" but anyone try to come up with something besides the two varients people are disputing while still using the same sounds? goin blind but you run out, "feet are slippin and they'll collide" or "feel a slip and then i'll collide" which im not sure you can distinguish from "in the alkalide", becuase they use all the same sounds in the same way But to me that makes most sense, becuase that verse has two pairs of lines, and for the first to not to relate at all (blind running and alkalide make no sense together) doesn't really seem like Lacey's style. p.s. try doing that with what everyone assumes the boy says in the middle of daisy, see what you come up with. |

god, the fates, destiny, serendipity, happenstance, life,,, to an athiest (which i think someone else already pointed out he is) they are all the same thing. God doesn't have to be a religious thing you twits. In fact, God's a fairly unreligious symbol these days, he's more of a universal figure we give the responsibility of holding the strings tied to the uncontrollable aspects of life. Which is probably closer to what brock's getting at... If he wanted to talk about religion he would have been more inclined to say something about jesus or moses, cuz they're the real religion symbols, gods just the superpower that makes all their hibidijibidi work. lastly about bukowski, the only damned explanation you punks need is to go out and pick up one of his books of poetry, or even go through about 20 or so of his poems online. |

im very surprised nobody got it yet.... the Kitty Genovese thing was close... but it was a different murder... the John Kennedy assassination... "the vision that was planted in my brain Still remains Within the sound of silence." talking about the bullet that killed Kennedy. (he was shot in the head) the most important message this song offers is to not let the evil in this world silence us... don't go down without a fight... "The words of the prophets are written on the subway walls And tenement halls." lastly, the common people were the prophets of their day... i don't think this is culturally relevant today though, becuase the common people are well, i'll just say we are amidst the youtube generation, we only need our daily dose of a panda kicking a polar bear in his junk and we'll be content to ignore the evil that rules our lives and the atrocities occurring around the world, including their own cities... maybe that is the neon lights of today, we have been thoroughly silenced by self indulgence.... |

| well space cadet pull up... anything a space cadet would have to pull up for would be to avoid crashing into something... crash landing... or re-entry... but for the most part... it felt mostly like a car crash... like getting into a car where you know the driver is drunk... and your conscience is telling you to get out.. not to let them drive like that.. but you don't stop.. you get in start driving and a conversation starts and your cruising by maybe after a long night, looking out the window at the passing trees... or having that last conversation of the night.... (maybe just hanging out going somewhere idk..) and WHAM.... about 1 second reaction (if you see it before it happens) and then a moment of total chaos wrechage metal mangled in manner you'd like to never see... especialy with people still inside... maybe the screaming in the background would be the people who didn't die in the crash but were stuck in the car still bleeding.. screaming.. dying... (or maybe its just any random sudden tragic occurrence like a nervous breakdown if you don't know if you've really had one you haven't... ) but since a drunk driving accidents and car accidents in general seem to be a very prominent theme to brand new then i thought maybe.... | |
