| Green Day – She Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| I don't know if this has already been said; I'm too lazy to read through the comments, but I kind of think this song was probably written for one specific girl, but I think the meaning of it can be generalized to a lot of women who kind of feel subjected to the gender. The character in the song obviously feels like she is trapped by society. Even though it was recorded in the early nineties, I feel like there was still a glass ceiling that some women were very aware of and frustrated by, like the character in the song. I could be wrong, but I just always felt like the song had feminist undertones, which is why it is called "She" when it could have been easily named anything else. I just think the fact that Billie Joe can articulate the fear and frustration so well makes him so relatable and interesting to a lot of people though, which is why two decades later so many people are still thinking about this song... | |

I have to agree with echo-15, this does remind me a lot of "Diary" too. Not just the jewlrey and the "genius only comes..." but the part where he says "The ink is running toward the page It’s chasing off the days." like where she's confined in the hotel room painting for an unknown amount of time. |
