Ignore my comment, I apparently was so infuriated with other lyrics sites (after clicking and seeing the same mishandled lyrical transcriptions over and over again), I came into SongMeanings and my blind rage kind of overpowered the common sense it takes to actually look at the lyrics, haha! I marked my original post down, and will now sing along to the soothing sounds of The Slip. (And while I could use the liner notes I described, the way the band typed them out with no breaks or punctuation made me want to have the lyrics in a more organized form, hence my supposed "transcription of the album liner notes". But the lyrics above are actually good enough, haha!) |

The lyrics are wrong. How do I know? It's in the liner notes! Will work on a transcription of the album liner notes 9cause I was sick of seeing wrong lyrics, like the one up above). And for those of you who like the band, go buy their record! I got mine at HDtracks, and it's in FLAC (for those hardcore audiophiles, like me). Otherwise go get the CD from their main website. It absolutely rocks! |

This is my time This is my tear (It's his time, Obviously) I can see clearly now That this is not a place For playing solitaire (Very subtle, something he sees as not being fit with this society) Seems to me like All the world gets high When you take a dare (Something to do with action. The world gets high [not the toasted by weed kind of high] meaning they rise their heads when someone dares, he is deciding on whether he's going to take action) Let it rise before you This is my CRIME (I'm pretty sure he says this, it makes much more sense, like a crime that people think is wrong, but he feels it's right) All in all I'm Loving every rise and fall (meaning he doesn't care if his action is a crime) In the end All will be forgiven when Surrender rises high and I Gave what I came to give (He doesn't regret his action, and knows that in the end he or the world will still be the same) Say it now because you never know (I think he means do it or say it now, because you'll never have a second chance) Devil may cry devil may care (A statement that seems to fit the song, like he doesn't care about something) Distiller's got a scream And now I know just why When she's movin' air (Moving air is slang for talking, and now he knows how it feels to talk) Can you feel the voltage (Sort of like can you feel the tension and action, like electricity) California skies Got room to spare (Means he's ready to take all the heat, even dying, referenced to the california skies statement, ie. heaven) Take it outside Take it out there (maybe a statement that the people don't like his action, or they tell him to piss off) Seems to me like All the world gets high When you take a dare (same as above) In the final moment This is my time (He's ready to take his action) The song seems like someone who wants to take action, but weighs his decision carefully. It gradually gets to the point where the person will take the action, even if it means he harms his image, maybe even harming his health. The action can be anything, good or bad. From speaking about abuse or standing up to something, to taking some drugs or physically harming himself in the process. All he knows is that in the end he feels that he has done what he came to do and theres nothing stopping him now. Just my interpretation. Play around with it if you want. And i'm pretty sure he says crime instead of time. Or maybe I'm going crazy, who knows? |
