Well I’m not going to add any interpretation because I think its gone to a bad very un-Bright Eyes type place….My favorite part of the song is “no you are not” and “do you think that someone paints your mirror” - I love the emotional intensity….the internet really isn’t my thing…I just come here when I’ve read to many case briefs and my brain is about to explode…so I don’t know how the internet people get all the crazy details they do but it would be great if someone who knew how complied all the lyrics…including the background conversations….anyway back to Bush v. Gore 2000.…CONOR 4 PRESIDENT…see my sleep deprived argument under his False Advertising song |

I kind of like the messed up radio version…I think it has a George Orwell 1984 feel to it that goes well with the song…as for the song - one of my many favorite Bright Eyes songs…I gave up trying to choose a single song as my favorite a long time ago.. |

In the context of some of his other songs I think this song is about his father too….but it could be about a pet rock he had as a child (I don’t know that he had one but he seems like the type of person who would) and it would still be so amazing it redefines “wow”…
I was sitting in Con. Law when I first heard this song (I’m going to soon be a lawyer…I don’t really know why….and law classes are really intense but in a boring way so I balance it by (secretly) listening to Bright Eyes during class) and when he says “yeah you ran all the lights to the hospital” I had such a strong reaction the person who sits next to me asked if I was ok and all I could say was “Hamilton is kind of moving isn’t he?” There isn’t anything more that could be said about the fact that Conor is lyrically a god…the only person who could find the words to describe how painfully perfect these songs are is Conor himself. So if I didn’t post to interrupt the song or even to talk about how perfect his songs are why did I? Well…now I know this is going to sound crazy at first…CONOR FOR PRESIDENT….think about it before knocking it down. Everyone with half a brain knows a flag pole could do a better job than the current “cowboy” president so its not like he even would have much to live up to…but it gets better…look at it from the glass is half full perspective….he has such an amazing way or making people see/feel/understand things (anything) though his music...if he were to start using his magical pen to write about social problems with a global audience he could potentially solve most if not all the worlds problems….and again he couldn’t do worse than our current joke of a president… |
