I think the floodgates line goes along with the "my heart is bursting in your perfect eyes," because if you picture a heart that's bursting with heart-juice being contained by floodgates, so his feelings are contained, and then when the floodgates are opened, all the heart juice can leave, which corresponds to him "falling in love with everyone I saw." |

I don't see how people can say this song is happy...I mean come on, read these lyrics:
We'll keep working on the problem
We know we'll never solve
Of love's uneven remainders.
I think this verse, juxtaposed with the second half of the song, which is minor and sounds dark/depressing/ominous, give this song a much more cynical, dark feel. In a way, I think the second half of the song is so much more important than the first, soundwise, because it seems like its purpose is to actually express the emotions that the lyrics are suggesting. |

Did you know that ACE YOUNG wrote part of this song?!?! I almost DIED when I heard that!!! He was my favorite AI contestant EVER and was definitely the best singer they've ever had...his version of Drops of Jupiter by Train was like 10,000 times better than the version by Train themselves! and when he showed his scar at the same time that he sang the word "scar" was pure GENIOUSSSSSSSSS! I saw the american idols in concert a little while ago, and he sang father figure (which is an amazing song when he sings it!) and he did this really HOTTTTTTTT thing where he took off his jacket real slow in the middle of the song like he was the hottest guy on the face of the planet, which normally I would think is so weird and ridiculous, but not when ace does it, because he IS the hottest guy on the planet!!!!! |

I think that the "drugs" are a symbol of their love, and so once he starts calling her crazy, she realizes that "the drugs don't work no more"--that their love no longer suffices to cover up all of the guy's imperfections and judgements. So they break up, she goes through some withdrawal symptoms once he leaves--she didn't take their breakup very well (her face is shaking, her knees are breaking). But then the guy changes his mind, and comes back. But! When he came back, he brought a friend, which leads me to believe that either he now wants to set up his exgirlfriend with his friend, or he has some strange plans for the three of them together (which I'd rather not think about). Not really sure though where the whole dark army comes from or what that means, unless maybe it means the past, which will inevitably pull them apart again because the "drugs" will fail again. And, since the song is called metro, and the metro is the subway system in paris, I think this all must be going on in france. Which is awsome, because I love france so much. That makes me think, though, that maybe this song would be cooler if it were in french. That would mean that the chorus would be:
"Tu dis que je suis fou, je sais
Tu dis que je suis fou, je sais
Tout que je peux parler etre que les drogues ne travaillent plus."
Doesn't that sound so much cooler?! |

Does anyone else own the cd? I do, it's my fav. Anyway, on the cover of the cd, he's stomping on a disco ball and it's breaking into all these pieces. Since sexyback is the first single from the cd, and therefore the most important song on the cd, I'm thinking that the cover of the cd must be most closely related to this song. Which makes sense, I guess, and is saying that for justin to continue to bring sexy back, he has to destroy disco. Which I agree with. Disco sucks. |

All I can really get from this song is that he must not be a very good reader if his dictionary still has pictures in it. Those of us that are reely good readers have dictionarys with words. He must be really irresponsible too, if he's asking for two or three dictionaries--he must know that he's gonna lose them. |

I thought it meant that he'd spilled grape juice on his pants or something like that, and then he waded through a river as he was walking through the jungle, and he ended up "up to his ass in alligators" because they all were attracted to the grape juice, and so now he hates alligators and wants to find other people who do too so he can "get it on with the alligator haters." So basically this song is just a way for him to try and gather as many people as possible to join his crusade against alligators. |

I think this guy really likes oranges, and valencia ones in particular (I work at a fruit market, and I know that the plu code for valencias is 3108! that one took a long time to remember...but at least I know it now!!!).
I don't understand, though, why he's trying to light an entire city on fire with an orange. I tried to light my porch on fire with an orange, just cause i was curious if it would work, and it didn't. I guess he hasn't tried that yet. |

well the lead singer guy (I think his initials are REM, so I'm just gonna call him Ralph) is on stage, and the entire theater is dark, except for this one spotlight that's on him. so Ralph is over sitting in a corner on the stage, under the spotlight, and he's thinking about stuff, and realizes that since he hasn't gone to church or celebrated any holidays, like easter, in a long time (except not christmas, becuase everyone celebrates christmas), he is kinda losing touch with god and jesus. but then he realizes that all these thoughts he's having he actually said outloud, and so now the audience is laughing at him. he feels bad, but it doesn't last for that long, because then ralph wakes up from his dream and realizes I don't know what happens after this, becuase he apparently gets bored and decides to stop singing :-( |
