Muse – Soldier's Poem Lyrics 17 years ago
i always picture a soldier in a war writing this song to people back home. the first verse is on about governments are allways finding someone to blame, but now that they are dead (sadam ect) the second verse is about how people who have never fought for thier freedom dont appreciete it or deserve it, but he would still die for his country no matter how many times it screws him over.

Iron Maiden – Flight Of Icarus Lyrics 17 years ago
i origionally thought that this song was a bout icarus, but now i'm not so sure, the line 'in the name of God my father i'll fly' doesnt fit - the greeks were Polytheistic, not monothiestic and the line sounds very christian to me. 'he knows his father betrayed' doesnt fit either because daedalus did not betray icarus at all.

i think it may be more to do with a heroine overdose that the story of icarus

Iron Maiden – Alexander the Great (356-323 B.C.) Lyrics 17 years ago
i think that it would be pointless to try to work out who was the greatest general of all time; each has a different historical context. i wrote an article on a debate i had on a forum about alexander and Hannibal, and it was hard to choose between the 2. as for the song, it is historically accurate in all but one line

'he pathed the was for christianity'

i really dont think you could construct an arguments to that end.

i personally thinks is a bad song, but the fact that it is historicaaly inspired heavy metal realy gives it a hint of origionality!

Muse – City of Delusion Lyrics 17 years ago
for me this song is alot about religion:

Stay away from me
Build a fortress and shield your beliefs

saying how many religious people hide away and dont think about what they believe. they also hide from other people questioning thier beliefs. in my opinion you cant criticise people about their faith in todays society, and that need to be changed.

Touch the divine
As we fall in line

there are 2 reasons for religions in my eyes; control and explaining the unexplicable. since science does a better job of the latter than religion ever did, that just leaves control. so 'fall into line' is basicly saying that if you just follow religious teaching blindly, you are being controled.

Can I believe
When I dont trust
All your theories turn to dust

when you stop trusting the people who are telling you all this shit, you find thatr all their theories turn to nothing.

Destroy this city of delusion
And break these walls down

i think this is a rallying call for atheists to challenge religious poeple more, break the walls they put up if you will.

i think the rest of the song moves on a bit from religion, but i'll think a bit more and see if i can find and more religious references

Lostprophets – A Town Called Hypocrisy Lyrics 17 years ago
i think this song is in response the the critisism the band got for 'selling out' basicly giving the fingers to their critics and saying that thjey are hypocrits, when their critics are hypocrits themselves.

Bullet for My Valentine – Her Voice Resides Lyrics 17 years ago
If you listen to the album it tells a story, which i think is really great for a band to do, this is how the story goes:

Her voice resides: just broken up with girl, misses her (our time has ended)
4 words: gets back together with girl, she betrays him (betrayed one more time)
tears dont fall: still loves girl, but she doesnt want him
sufforcating under words of sorrow: cont. from tears dont fall (I've a new adiction)
hit the floor: starts to hate her, thinks about killing her (i could end it tonight)
all these things i hate revolve around me: nightmares about the girl, cant get her out of his head (torn apart at the seams as my dreams turn to tears)
room 409: sees girl with new bf (in his apartments)
the poison: kills girl for revenge (now is your time to die)
10 years today: death of friend, break in the general storyline
cries in vain: same as 10 years
spit you out: obsesion with girl he just killed, tries to move on (do i cut thses ties)
the end: commits suicide (now the end is near)

very sad story, but one that has probably happend.

Bullet for My Valentine – 10 Years Today Lyrics 17 years ago
i think its ten years ago that the guy died maor.e. at the start 'i got a call that nearly killed me' as in he got a phonecall telling him that his friend had died.

the bit where he says 'where did you go?' is sort of him asking where he went when he died, heaven, hell or nowhere.

Trivium – Unrepentant Lyrics 17 years ago
dang this song is good. it is critisiing the tradition of so called honour killings which go on in the islamic world. i love it how trivium pick out examples to highlight a point in with a song. this way the band can make a point and not have annoyingly vague lyrics which sdont get the point across as well

Trivium – The Rising Lyrics 17 years ago
i think its a rallying call, just like the anthem

Trivium – The Deceived Lyrics 17 years ago
for me this song is about how we are all living under the cosh of religion, and that we need to break free. how we all respect erligion too much, and that it is time we start looking at eachother and asking ourseves if our faith is viable in our moder society

Trivium – Dying in Your Arms Lyrics 17 years ago
this song is a lot like those on the crusade, no screaming. it was the best song on the album for me!

Trivium – Ascendancy Lyrics 17 years ago
i think the lyrics 'behold your fellow man, through centuaries of control, adhering to the decrees of a manucatured god' from another song on the ablum kinda suggests that trivium dont believe in a higher power...

but the song is still great

Trivium – Anthem (We Are The Fire) Lyrics 17 years ago
so all thses people want matt togo on screwing up his vocal chords? cos thats what will happen if he does loads of screaming. this song had me hooked the first time i heard it, and the video is awsome! i always saw it as a rallying call to all thise people who are pissed off at the world screwing them over

Trivium – Ignition Lyrics 17 years ago
this is basicly saying that the war in iraq is just about oil, which many will agree with. as for better lyrics in acendance, well when its hard to hear them what with all the screaming... dont get me wrong, i loved acendancy to bits, but the crusade it far more meaningful and far more mature.

Trivium – Becoming The Dragon Lyrics 17 years ago
socio-impared- im sorry but metallica are SO much better than trivium, and i think trivium are amazing! metallica are legends!

as for the new sound, much better than acendancy, this is how matt wanted the band to sound (according to a friend who read an interview by matt, so it could be wrong)

Savatage – This Isn't What We Meant Lyrics 17 years ago
i think this is having a dig at religion.

'the future couldn't last
we've nailed it to the past'

saying how religion can stop us moving forwards by holding onto outdated tradition and false certainties.

'is this the answer to our prayers?
is this what god has sent'

asking; if there is a god, why is there so much suffering?'

Muse – Thoughts of a Dying Atheist Lyrics 17 years ago
here here!

i think religion degrades life, becuase it leads us to believe that there is a better place to go after death. the depressing truth is, there isn't. this life is the only one we have, and we have to make the most of it. this life is unbeliefable amazing anhd there is nothing better.

i am afraid to die
and it scared the hell out of me too!

Trivium – Entrance Of The Conflagration Lyrics 17 years ago
I love the Crusade, its so much more mature than acendancy. as for this song, i think its a song about how rediculous religious dogma, useing the woman from texas metioned earlier as an example.
