| Five for Fighting – Freedom Never Cries Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I get the impression that this song isn't pro-war OR anti-war, in particular; it's about the real issues BEHIND the nationalism, the patriotism, the terror, the commemoration, the concepts. It's about the way it affects you and me, rather than rhetoric. | |

| This song makes me shiver. As faye said it pretty much sums up the evil in humanity...but also the potential for good, if only we were to exercise that potential. | |

This is just my opinion of course - but then, isn't that what this site is about? The first chorus bit, when he says: "I am the great destroyer", it's just his voice...but the second chorus, it turns into a huge strident echoing roar, that in turn melds into the chaos and noise of destruction. Now the way I see this in my head is of a normal man suddenly spreading huge wings, and wreaking utter death on everything around him. Too much Gundam Wing maybe. But I certainly think that in the final decision to take that last step and to actually Murder Everything, he transcends the flesh and becomes something else entirely. He actually BECOMES The Great Destroyer, rather than just having the potential. |

| The Benjamin Gate – Overkill Lyrics | 19 years ago |

As an anxiety sufferer - though that does seem like a dumb phrase, who ISN'T anxious sometimes in their life? - I think this is about anxiety. I've been in THIS position: "Especially at night I worry over situations I know will be alright Perhaps it's just imagination" Time and time again. The chorus about the ghosts sounds like things left behind; or maybe the ghost of worries, ephemeral things that don't really exist outside of her head. |

| VNV Nation – Circling Overland Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| 2029 is the year that scientists predict to be the Intelligence Singularity - the year that machines achieve the same intelligence as human beings. It's not about the fighter industry per se, it's about the future of warfare, and the omniscience of the machine. It's not from the point of view of the pilots - the jets are the ones doing the talking. | |
