Jethro Tull – Heavy Horses Lyrics

It took a while for me to really understand this song. I love how Ian Anderson sounds so sad and tired...I haven't listened to anything from "Stormwatch" but I know that it's the third part of the "folk trilogy" |

Pink Floyd – The Fletcher Memorial Home Lyrics

XmisfitXgirlX, I see what you're saying that Waters went after the guys who had more global clout, but still, whatever Reagan, Nixon, and Thatcher in particular did was NOWHERE NEAR as bad as Saddam gassing thousands of Kurds, Amin's murders, Castro and the Ayatollahs purging the countries of their enemies. I'm a liberal American, but not one of the cycnical, self-hating variety, and I just think that Waters is going after the wrong people |

Personally, my favorites Yes song. It just seems so spiritual and compassionate. |

Culture Club – The War Song Lyrics

I read in a music criticism book that this was the song that effectively ended Culture Club's career. It does seem a bit trite... |

Meat Loaf – Lawyers, Guns And Money Lyrics

Warren Zevon wrote it first, but its a good song whoever sings it. I've never actually heard it, but I've heard the Zevon version, and I can see Meat puffing this one out. |

Meat Loaf – Monstro Lyrics

Spanish, actually.
"You are cruel
"You are not faithful
"The son of darkness is deadly
"Your heart is a thief"
Of course, that's a rough translation. Now, as for what that means, probably Meat Loaf complaining about another bad relationship he kissed his way into. Will he ever learn? |

Meat Loaf – The Future Ain't What It Used To Be Lyrics

Holy CRAP why has no one commented on this yet? It's amazing! Best song on his new album (well OK, tied with Seize the Night and Alive) Some good ol' fashioned blues meets angst as only Meat can deliver it! Awesome, awesome... |

By the way, naqromnai, we Yankees don't need to fully understand the "Britishness" of a song. We just need to appreciate what it means to us.
And we know a thing or two about gang warfare as well... |

Meat Loaf – Modern Girl Lyrics

Can it be possible to say that Meat Loaf actually restrained himself musically? Here, he did, and the song suffers for it. I think the eclectic tempo and good lyrics (the third stanza is genius) could have made for a "Bat Outta Hell" style rock anthem. But for some reason, he cut himself short and was content to repeat the refrain 60 bzillion times. Oh well... |

Meat Loaf – Rock And Roll Dreams Come Through Lyrics

Normally, I love ML, but something here just didn't connect. The concept is kind of cheesy, even for Loaf, and the song just never picks up steam and takes off like "Bat" or "Paradise". Some have called this his best song, but it's my least favorite. |

Jethro Tull – Witch's Promise Lyrics
|
Probably wrong, but the way I interpret the song is this. The singer is warning/laughing at his ex-girlfriend who has found a new boyfriend. Attractive and charming, but really devilish and manipulative beneath the facade. I find it easier to believe that the band behind Hunting Girl, The whistler, and Living in the Past is singing to a woman. If it was Pink Floyd or Rush we were talking about, I suppose the opposite could be true. |

Dirty, dirty, dirty! Didn't expect KC to get this nasty. I like the second verse, where he spears the feminist movement. "I just smiled..." CREEPY! |

King Crimson – 21st Century Schizoid Man Lyrics

Hard for me to appreciate the billionth song about the end of civilization by way of consumerism, especially when KC isn't my fav band to begin with. Sinfield may be fond of metaphors, but I take this whole song as a metaphor for how grim people are about the future. Beware of self-fulfilling prophecies, guys! |

Pink Floyd – Keep Talking Lyrics

I think that the female vocalists are a nice touch. I'd rather hear that than synth effects for seven minutes straight. I love how it compares the evolution of the human brain to relationship problems. |

Pink Floyd – Learning to Fly Lyrics

The mark of a good song is that it can be interpreted many different ways. That is my stance and I will defend it to my death. Despite the backlash, I still interpret this as a man falling deeply in love for the first time, with all the thrills, challenges, and revelations that come with. Alright I'm Done. Fire away. |

Pink Floyd – The Fletcher Memorial Home Lyrics

I love the song, but I can't help but notice something: Where's Castro, Saddam, Khomeini, Amin, Gaddafi, etc? Yeah, I know how sexy it is to hate Reagan and Nixon, but don't forget who the real overgrown infants are. |
