i really wanna know what he's saying in the beginning of the song, before the main lyrics start. i think the girl just likes him too much to not trust him, its not that she didnt want to admit it. i think it's more of the fact that she loves him so much, and just is naive and thinks he loves her as much. its not that she wont admit it because he says "shes just a friend. you see, you always agree" and i dont even think he wants her back, its just the fact that he feels really guilty for treating her like crap. especially how she loved him so much. he's saying ill break down for you because he's prbably not the type to really get emotional or attatched, but he's saying that he's guilty, which means something. he thoght she was annoying, or maybe he just told his friends that to seem cool or something. but she still called him and stuff, which brought up his ego. and when he finally sees her moving on with another guy, THAST when the remorse kicked in. but i dont think its cause he wanst her back, he would have mentioned something to imply that |

I heard it from the Practical Magic soundtrack too! It's a really good soundtrack if you ask me... I can't seem to find any of her other songs on Limewire. It's saddening, because this song's one of my favourites of all time. Like..no one knows of it. Hence why I'm only the second person to comment.. and probably the last. Anyway, I think it's about not really knowing who you are and desperately trying to find yourself. I think that the girl in the song is a really special person, but she doesn't know it, and neither does anybody else. It kindof reminds me of that teenager stage where you aren't really comfortable in your own skin and at that point in their life, everything is a journey to finding who they really are. That's what I interpret with this song, Michelle Lewis is an amazing singer.. the way she sings it is so calming and melodic. Beautiful, beautiful voice. |

I can REALLY relate to svdukefan.. I completely went nuts trying to figure this song out last summer (when I first heard it) and the interpretation of it. here's mine: (excuse me, please, it's overly long and full of errors, but its 'cause i posted it as a blog, for people to comment me back and give me insights.. yes.. i WAS obsessed. my theory of this song is about this man (whos the lead singer) and i know that he has leukemia.. so maybe its about that. im thinking that this outer space is like heaven.. and hes having nightmares of dying.. and its only worse when hes sleeping because when your dreaming it seems so real. (ironic considering it ISNT reality..but its like the dreams giving him a preview of death) kill the messenger.. maybe hes talking about the doctor and that hes the one that told him he had leukemia.. and it would be better if he didnt even know about it cause its screwing him up... "get to church cause your a good girl" maybe he wants her to pray for him.. he obviously loves her.. "and i never told you that" obviously.. he never got a chance to tell her. possibly implying that they had history before and he just never got around to telling her.. and now he wants to tell her because ..well you know.. never know when your going to die right? "and all i need from you could be the thing that leaves us both up here forever" maybe thats about something physical.. like a kidney or something to help him with the cancer. . the surgery might not go well and in another verse instead of saying " leaves us both up here forever" he just refers to himself and says "leaves ME locked up here forever" maybe hes tlaking about if the surgery doesnt go well.. he could die. and when hes referring to her.. it might not go well for her either. "im gunna send a little rain your way" im thinkin that maybe its about him telling her that he IS sick.. and the rain is a metephor for sadness.. and all that jazz. i think hes syaing that hes gunna either/or tell her that hes sick.. or ask her for that kidney or whatever. something along those lines...... onto the next verse.. now this one got me kinda stumped. the only idea i have for this one is the first line.. when it says "its not so easy caving in" maybe.. its not so easy dying... not easy dying and KNOWING that your time is running out. obviously when he mentions that he walked by her apartment when she wasnt there..twice.. he misses her.. and is thinking about her. and that he needs her.. why? im not sure.. it may be physical it may be mental. my guess is that its both. when he refers to the colours.. maybe hes just thinking about our inner colours.. dying. all the colours got so dim.. but when hes refering to the cold and "come quick im loosing feeling" i really got no ideas for that one. next verse (after the chorus, of course)im gunna send a little rain to pour down on you.. maybe hes talking about how this is really gunna hurt her.. but he just has to tell her. rain that make the flowers bloom.. flowers can be interpreted in so many ways. but my guess is that hes talking about life. maybe this "rain" will make her really appreciate her own life, thus, the flower blooms. "rain to leave you all alone" needless to say.. all alone without him.. and also if this rain he speaks of.. if it does have to do with the illness.. when your diagnosed you feel lost and lonely..that is perhaps it too. but keep eyelashes falling .. when eyelashes fall you're supposd to make a wish.. he wants her to wish for him and wish for herself (as well as pray-church reference) but yet, the next line says and wishes washed away. maybe hes talking about all the things she wished for BEFORE.. or what he wished for before. that hes saying its not so important anymore.. all thats important is living. well that the song.. TELL ME WHAT YOU THINK OF MY THEORY.. AND YOUR OWN!!! THANKS SO MUCH!! |

i first heard this song on my boyfriend's myspace. this may be totally wrong, but maybe this is inspired by a nightmare. "never fall asleep! you wont wake up" i just think that its implying that he had a nightmare, and realized that life is morbidly similar. the horror story theme is apparent though. that's obvious. god i love this song.. |

i really love jack's mannequin. andrew's a really talented artist, and i love the way he writes, and how there's depth to his songs. idk.. the melody and rythm to this song portrays a frustrated and desperate emotion. it's just the feeling i get when i hear the music. and the lyrics kindof point it out too.. |
