Sounds like a bunch of cerimonial magick references. Demon and an Englishman...Alastair Crowley? Slipping the blade in the marmelade - some sexual reference, possibly to the "Blade and Chalice" or Great Rite. I like the angels wings covering things. Angels have been responsible for deaths, for leveling towns, for God's vengance... and everyone thinks of them as beautiful and peaceful things with beautiful wings. A wing can cover all sorts of things....Indeed, Tori! |

For some reason, whenever I hear this I think about prostitution and women being taken advantage of. "Man with the Golden Gun" is all about James Bond, who is a shameless womanizer. "They must have paid her a nice price, She's putting on her stringbean love" "Must have been a cheaper feel, now" either stripping or prostitution. "Rabbit, where'd you put the keys, girl?" This to me is a reference to Trudi Chase. She has many multiple personalities, and one of her earliest ones is Rabbit. Rabbit is a tormented young girl who was molested by Trudi's father, and was present when Trudi's beloved pet rabbits were slaughtered. Rabbit is locked away safe inside Trudi. Hence, where'd you put the keys, girl?" to let Rabbit out and be freed of her pain. (Trudi Chase has written a book "When Rabbit Howls" describing her experiences as a multiple.) Just my two cents. The Trudi Chase stori was big when this album came out. |
