| when he says "v", he is talking about dog,becuase 1.) Jesus isn't you best freand, as that would imply he is your equal, and the bible states he is man's king, and 2.) a dog and wolf are technicaly the same species. The classic charicature of the wolf is evil and undermining, so it makes sense that in this song it is saying that the wolf is hiding amoung you posing as a dog. | |

Yes, Dustin stated that it was the elements, not god. Just because he is a christian dosn't mean every song he writes is about god/christ. on the topic of the song: I loved the sonnets for the first to(fire, water) and I love this one. they all have the same feel or idea, that humanity mis-interperates them and tries to use, control, or blame them for somthing. Also, the sonnets could be used to sum up each bit. |

All or nothing. I think that kinda sums it up for me. And the Warcraft story. it's Arthas in Northrend. His dad(the king) orders his men home, so he goes behind their backs and hire mercenaries to destroy the boats then tells his troops that the mercs did it as an act of aggresion. Show's how crazy he got though ,and to quote Muradin: "You lied to your men and betrayed the Mercenaries that fought for you! What's happening to you Arthas, is vengeance all that's important to you?" |

I agree with Dubba, the way he sings and the rythm suggest some form of insanity. or somthing else that is incredibly intense. And jsut because Dustin is a christisan, and pulls influence form the bible, dosn't make Thrice a preachy christian band. if they became one, they'd go against everything they once stood for. |

I'd havew to say the meaning of the song to me goes along the same lines as drummerboy8044's and Techcasualty's fellings. Stand up and fight for what you beleive in, don't just sit around and let it go. BUt thaats just my opinion, and its bound to be differnet from others. It's also my opinion that God dosn't love me, by that again, is just my opinion. |

I like this band, and I like this song (even if my version skips more than a school girl in a field of ants) The simple version of this song: Persecution The surface: The witch trials of the inqusition, were the DID burn them. The deep: The persecution and 'burnning' of anyone who thinks differently of/from those in power. Just my opinion |

Man, good song... Great band..... I remeber when They released it on the COLD myspace. Yeah, I think it's about some one who's trying, or believes that he's doing good, but finds out hes not, and decides the best solution is to leave. |
