| Jack Penate – Learning Lines Lyrics | 19 years ago |
To me, this song is about growing old. When you're young you're forever dreaming, and that's okay, because you're safe - you're protected by your family, and you don't have to earn your way yourself. Nothing is expected of you. However as the eternal saying goes 'all dreamers must wake up', not that I believe in this, but y'know. |

| Howling Bells – The Night Is Young Lyrics | 19 years ago |
It's easy to make sense of this song. It's about someone who needed her lover to stay, through a tough time perhaps, but instead he 'drove his car the other way.' dejectedly she insists she has a 'pocket full of wisdom up my sleeve' with the line 'and the night is young' it gets me thinking that the worse is still to come, there are many dark times ahead. |

| Giant Drag – Pretty Little Neighbour Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I saw her live, and she told us (the crowd) that the song was literally about a boy who she once upon a time lived next door to. | |
| David Bowie – John, I'm Only Dancing Lyrics | 19 years ago |
thinwhiteduchess has got it spot on, absolutely think about it, it's one of bowie's most camp songs for a start.. and the line "John, I'm only dancing She turns me on, but I'm only dancing" why the hell would he admit to his friend that his gf turns him on? ridiculous notion, but if it makes your tiny little homophobic minds any less horrified, then so be it. |

| Babybird – You're Gorgeous Lyrics | 19 years ago |
haha why does it have to be a young girl? to me, it sounds quite plausible for it to be a gay song |
| Bloc Party – Like Eating Glass Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Surely it cannot be coincedental that this song has so many crystal meth references, so I am going to go with that theory. however it is, just a 'theory.' the religious side to the theory is definitely more than plausible too, as Kele himself did go to church every sunday until he was 20 (observer interview) he was dissatisfied with this 'cold house' of which his deeply religious parents forced him to attend. |
| Bloc Party – Positive Tension Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I love Kele's offensive voice when he begins the song with the bold statement: "you're just as boring as everyone else" I love that this song does actually make me think of radiohead going a bit 'pop.' |
| Bloc Party – Blue Light Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Think of the colour blue more. what does blue normally represent? to me, in regards to this song it represents the cold, bitter love of which the one he loves is either afraid to express emotionally, or to engage in any emotional conversation. it is a song of cold, harrowing, unforgotten love. |

Also, 'ROCKOWNTZU' , you appear lost find yourself away from this page, be gone! |

| Bloc Party – The Prayer Lyrics | 19 years ago |
In my humble opinion, this is not a song laden with sarcasm, it is a song laden with brutal honesty. Honesty of which everyone knows but is afraid to admit: impressing our peers is what, ultimately, we all aim to achieve on a night out in the town/club. knowing that you possess the ability to 'charm, slice and dazzle them with your wit' , but having perhaps maybe a speach impediment holding you back from displaying your true colours, would annoy anyone. this, is a prayer of confidence. |

| Patrick Wolf – Don't Say No Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Interesting theory Matt! There is something about his eerie style of singing in this song, that suggests you could have a valid point, in the bold statement you made. |
| Patrick Wolf – Lycanthropy Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Well I think there's quite a bold statement in this song: it's basically a pied piper type tune, Paddy is telling his listeners to 'be your own hero' , as to whether there is irony laden here is unimportant, as this advice would be of much benefit to those who feel they 'need' some significant other, when really they do not. | |
| The Ordinary Boys – Talk Talk Talk Lyrics | 19 years ago |
The lyrics sum it up perfectly, and the guitaring works in brilliant unison fashion. preston before he went bad.. I'm not one of those who have a dig for 'selling out' but their earlier stuff such as this was so much better than the, quite frankly 'ear disturbing' latest single, 'I luv u.' over and out - great song! |

| The Killers – For Reasons Unknown Lyrics | 19 years ago |
You wake up one morning, and all of a sudden you realise you don't love her anymore. He doesn't recognise the one he fell in love with anymore. he's been falling out of love with her since day 1, and only now has this fatal fact suddenly dawned upon him. when I think of a situation, I think... he could be on a flight home, back to meet his loving fiance, only to realise upon this harrowing fact |

| The Presets – Are You The One? Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Dancing to this in a club you get such a sensation. A sensation unlike any other. I get this extra special feeling. I am Alive. This song is sex. | |
| Ryan Adams – So Alive Lyrics | 19 years ago |
It plays well on me. I agree with the similarities to Bono. I mean it's just so different to his other stuff I have heard, this album really was a breakthrough wasn't it. I'm amazed I hadn't heard it before recently to be honest, but I guess I was just too caught up in his mellow (very relaxing) acoustic stuff. I really like it, a real energetic burst of a song. |

| Rufus Wainwright – The Art Teacher Lyrics | 19 years ago |

And I am that Art Teacher. haha no. On a more serious note, one of the most brilliant retrospective, saddening songs I have heard in all my years. |
| The Zombies – She's Not There Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I like how the song has such fitting contradictions. 'her eyes were clear and bright, but she's not there' - seeming to indicate that what we see is not reality; in this case anyway. As Shakespeare once said 'the world is our stage, and we are its actors and actresses.' | |
