'p.s, if you havent seen the video, keep an EYE OUT for the little kamakazi attack on Mr.Orzabal.'
That's probably my favourite part. Poor Roland, haha!
After reading a few different articles, here's a supposed quote from Roland on the meaning:
"It's a kind of a love song, though more referring to one's parents than to a girl."
Anyway, wonderful song. The Hurting certainly was a great album. |

Absolutely a wonderful song. TsingTao's comment certainly leads a great direction to what we can say the song means. Then again, it could be that when Roland Orzabal and Curt Smith were writing the lyrics and song, they made 'loose' lyrics so although you can tell it's a love song, you can sort of choose what the bottom line meaning is. Nonetheless, TsingTao makes a great meaning for me. As for the childish acts, I see it as well that perhaps he doesn't want to intimidate the one he loves, so he tries to joke around with her to make sure they start off friendly and calm so they can eventually grow into a more mature relationship.
I love the bass in the song, always makes me smile, and when Curt sings backing vocals as Roland sings about his 'mother and brothers' up to 'it's hard to be a man...' et cetera. |

"I agree. Like the part where he says, "You know what? You suck!" good breakup song."
I love that line too. Even before I heard the song and only read the lyrics, I loved the line.
Quote from Dave [Mustaine] in 2001:
"When you say goodbye to somebody, you really don't know if you'll ever see him or her again. The song is actually about getting jilted and being able to be firm on the other side of it and saying, 'Good riddance bitch, I don't need you anyway.' We've all had that 'Dear John' letter. We've all been told, 'Let's just be friends.'" |

I always heard James kicked Dave's dog and Dave punched him in the face and James just told him it was the last straw with his alcohol and drug abuse. Kicked him out and Dave was pissed so he started Megadeth so he could make a heavier, bigger and better band than Metallica.
Anyways, here's a quote from Dave in 1992 about Chris [Poland]:
"Chris Poland - you know what? - he could die tomorrow and it wouldn't affect me... Chris has never made amends to me for stealing all my gear. I had a collector's item Echoplex which just disappeared, all sorts of guitars, which were all stolen to cash in for heroin. I'm willing to forgive and forget, but until he comes and makes amends with me then I'm not willing to give in." |

I agree with SuperSpamAway. Many bands, not all but many, let stardom get to their heads and they get extremely commercial. There are always the die-hard fans that love the band, but the non-obsessed fans give up on the band.
Way off topic but... it's awesome when Dave and the rest of Megadeth (at the time) appear on Duck Dodgers and do this song. A great way to promote your new album! Haha... |

Probably one of my favourite Beatle songs. I'm not to sure why but somehow the whole song is just so... uplifting. At one point I'd listen to it constantly. Now I'm listening to it again many months later. Very nice :) |

At first I thought the song was about rape or being in an abusive relationship or something but not all the lyrics fit into the theme that well. Reading that it was about vampires made me laugh. It's certainly a unique choice for a song and I really love that C= |

I was wondering what David Ellefson was up to. Great stuff, of course!
I'm still having difficulty deciding which of AA song is my favourite. I like this one because it's not as heavy as the others, which is what Mike was aiming for. It gives it a unique touch from the rest. |

Wow, when I saw the title, I died laughing. No, but seriously, awesome song.
Psychoman364 knows his stuff. Poor Nils Gustafsson, though. Getting accused of the murder.
Never heard the song, pyromaniak87, but I did read about it. Also have this break in the middle where Janne and Alexi have some talk, in finnish, about Janne giving him beer. But that's off topic of the song. |

I've read about many MTV bans. Pretty funny, but understandable.
First song I heard by the band. I like it. Someone in my English class said the song was boring compared to their others, but I still like it. |

Actually, I believe it's "dead moms", not "dear moms" nor just "moms". But I'm not sure. |

| Megadeth – Sin Lyrics
|
What I found on The Realms of Deth:
"Interpretation by Tor Laneryd:
I think this song is about a mass murderer, i.e. A man who goes into a public place and kills a great many persons whom he doesn't know, without any real reason for doing so. This may seem like a bit odd theory, since there are no words like "death" or "murder" in the lyrics, and neither is there any description of the actual crime. Assuming that my theory is correct, however, this is only an example of Mustaine's great song-writing skills.
The title, "Sin," makes me think of a crime, and the line "he had an unfamiliar face" makes this a crime in which the victims doesn't know the perpetrator. That there are several victims is concluded by "so many have to pay," and you can guess that the crime is of a lethal nature by the slightly humouristic "no worries of living". Also note that the phrase following this one, "no more anything," has been used by Mustaine once before in the song "Youthanasia," here too associated with death. The rest of the first half of the song seems to either support my theory, or at least not activelly speak against it.
The second half of the song is a bit different from the first. I think this part is meant to reflect the insanity and paranoidal mentality of the mass murderer." |

I always use the Realms of Deth for the meanings for these guys songs.
Nevertheless, amazing song and just as Metal_Up_Ya_Ass_Jay pointed out, I also love the riff. Maybe I can try convince my friend that we should learn this song on guitar after we're done with what we're learning now. |

I absolutely love this. A while ago, before I really knew anything about Warmen and Children of Bodom, I hear this one piece and thought it was amazing. Especially considering I play piano and I hope to play very well one day (I've been playing for about ten years). Then I got these mp3s for Christmas and I eventually got around to the Warmen CDs and as soon as I found this song, I was very pleased. Anyways, great song indeed. |

This is great song. Probably one of my favourite songs by them. That one riff, at about three minutes into the song, is pure amazement to me. Man, Death is classic. I can't say I've heard a song from them that I don't enjoy.
Chuck Schuldiner was an influence to so many, and he's deeply missed by many.
Is that what the song is about? Wow.. I never would have known. |

This is one of my favourite songs by these guys. Though, I'm confused by the meaning. Anyone that has heard the song knows that at one point, they say '... I'm stoned! I am stoned!', my guess meaning the song is about drugs. But that 'tiny streams of orchestration' always makes me put that idea to the test =/ |

Well, if you were to read the description of the second disc, it says, 'The sixth song—-that is, the complete second disc—-explores the stories of six individuals suffering from various mental illnesses. Particularly represented are post-traumatic stress disorder, delusions of grandeur, autism, psychosis, post-partum depression, and major trauma resulting in blackouts.'
Autism is mentioned, but it never declares that it IS autism, and I believe the theory of the boy suffering from Ashberger's Syndrome makes sense. |

| Ayreon – Day Sixteen: Loser Lyrics
|
'The sixteenth day is marked with a rather strange event; Father, Me's nemesis comes to visit Me. Calling him "Loser", and bellitling him as always, it is later revealed that the Father is the true loser, having married more than once and was filed lawsuits against each of those wives, and having a lot of children half of whom are in jail. Rage reawakens and refuses Father's words, reflecting upon the intensity of Me's hatred towards him. ("You're killing it from afar, go tell it in a bar/You're killing it from afar my father!")'
Taken from Wikipedia. And this song is amazing and hilarious! |
