The Locust – Armless and Overactive/Invented Organs Lyrics 19 years ago
Oh man, from 5:56 to the end of the track are my favorite 16 seconds of music the Locust have ever recorded. I think they have so much more talent than almost any other group, math or otherwise. I don't know how much time they actually spend on this, but the individual riffs and all the minute sounds and precise timing are pulled off so perfectly. I honestly think if they dumbed the stuff from "Plague Soundscapes" onward down and repeated and slowed down some of their best riffs a lot more they could be (relatively) big.
Not that I'd ever want them to do that, I think knowing when to let a piece get off the stage allows you to tolerate a song for many more listens, gives you stuff to discover as you do listen to it more, and just makes for denser, BETTER music overall.

Bone Thugs-n-Harmony – 1st of tha Month Lyrics 19 years ago
This song has some of the best vocal melodies and interplay that BTNH have done, in my opinion, second only to "a sack, a sack, a sack" in "Buddah Lovaz." I think they made catchier shit than even the straight-pop acts of the mid-90s.
Even as a white college student who's working hard to be a vet, I identify with this song more than most stuff that's been on the radio. Throughout a month you go through some hectic times, and they make the nights and mornings when you have the luxury of smoking all the more heavenly. You're more willing to get along with everyone else and be more generous towards your friends. I do a reasonable job at supporting myself, but you can't devote everything to being productive. Sometimes I'll use Xmas money given by relatives for clothes or textbooks on a bit of weed. So what? We're human.
And isn't there a Johnny Cash song about gradually stealing all the parts of a car from a factory one works at? People of all sects do this shit to be able to have nice things and they all sing about it. C'mon people.
