I think part of it is about that people just don't learn from the past, choosing to keep moving on with blinders on instead. So then something happens that should not come as a surprise to them if they'd bothered to learn from the past or stop and think. They say "how could we have known?" and again don't seek answers where they should but "look to the heavens". |

Hm, I thought it was simply about life and thinking you can (or should!) be able to do it all by yourself. But everyone needs friends and community and you don't always have to "hold your head" (ratio, calculation) "higher than your heart".
To me "it will defeat you, then teach you to get back up" is simply about life. |

I think it's about guy whose girl just wouldn't/couldn't commit or open up to him ("won't let me in"). Perhaps she was looking for something better to come along ("always looking out") or maybe it just means she's always caught up in events around her, never looking inside herself let alone let anyone else in... |

Good lord, what a beautiful song! Can't belief I just recently came across it. Also that he sings about these musical concepts as the 4th, the 5th, the minor fall and major lift while playing them. And it fits in perfectly with the songs meaning. Wonderful. |

I absolutely love the energy of this song. But what does it all mean? Something involving a Texas road trip and lots of drugs? |

Nice to have the definitive lyrics now. Although I do miss "the ancient snow" and "cheap shots from the tribe" ;-) |
