To say cornell wasnt on drugs during down on the upside, is rediculous...did you see him in the videos off those albums? In Blow up the outside world he looked so skinny it was scary This song is about hoping that the drug he has just bought/taken will actually have effect. A real junky mentality that cornell either experienced once, because it would seem past tense. Either way this song is the shit, i love it. Overfloater, never named and this song are the best off the album

god chris must have been pissed off and depressed when he wrote this album...apart from spoonman my wave and the day i tried to live...although that song represents a sort of depresion...still the greatest album of the 90s in my opinion...i just wish he could still write music like he used to

i remember reading something that the lead singer uses the chorus for a pick up line, that could indicate that its about a pick up? besides that i dont know, a lot of there songs are like that...theyre still fucking sweet tho

dont care what it means, but when this song was performed live later in there career (1994 -1997)...it sounded so sweet...cornell would sing the first verses in a lower pitch with no drumming or bass in the background, just the guitars strumming a bit...and then when he was done with the verse it would play the song fully but heavier and with more feeling...they should have re made this song the way they did it live...fkn awsome...look up the song on youtube and it should be in the movie "hype!" sounds awesome

i beleive its about a man who has a addiction to some sort of drug, or possibly is suicidle...and decides to have a new revelation and try to live normally, and one day he tries to become normal like everyone else, only realising that hes not like other people...that other people are just robots, and should have stayed on the same path he was on...it could possibly be about nething but its about a revelation...thats for a fact...thing about chris cornells lyrics is it can suit any theme, but it always has a solid plot

omg, what is wrong with you people, its obviously about herion or speed...pretty easy to figure out...whats on the bum of a beetle....a needle...hes refering to this girl making him more relaxed and easy going, like what herion does to you...and blur wouldve been on so many different drugs, i mean look at how skinny they all were, still love em tho
