i think that in writing this song, ani decided to write it from someone elses perspective to her. writers can easily see someone elses point of view with out its being biased or with the taintedness of their own feelings. its definitely a master piece and one of my favorites of her work. |

this is my favorite song from this album. i think its about the numbness people get from decorating their life with whats popular in entertainent, and how it reflects. presumably about a woman who plays innocent when shes really using her body and played naivety to get what she wants. so much that he even begins to think its real, and suffers eventually from it. i think when he says that he is "the razor in the hands of god" he mean that he will cut into who ever he is talking about, by opening their eyes to what they are doing. its great symbolism. or maybe the chorus is her lying defense, and she cuts into him. then he turns around and uses it against her. i dont know... this song has kind of confused me for a while. amazing band. |

This is the best song on the album. It kind of takes you back to S.C.I.E.N.C.E. with out so much stepping on the toes of rawness. I do believe this song is sarcasm, because I know the things the writter stands for, and its hardly believeing in things such as being blinded and people defined as rogues. Hes trying to keep attention to himself, of all thats around him, expressing that "the ripple effect", meaning the cause and effect of life, is what you do with it, and the outcome. If you keep your eye on your surroundings, you cannot be disillusioned. Most people dont, and are not affected by the true reality in this world. Penance is punishment from sins, and he is not one to believe you suffer after. You suffer now. |
