I also don't know how Ashitaka doesn't get where people are getting cutting from... when she blatantly says that one girl takes scissors to her skin... uh, Hello? |

I love this song. It is amazing. This is something that anybody who's done something like anything mentioned in the song can totally relate to. It seems like it's simple, like anybody could say it, but so many people fail to put it into the comprehend able worlds that Shirley does. And I disagree with and am somewhat offended by the people saying "cutting yourself is so middle school". I'm years out of middle school and still cut myself, and my mom continued on other forms of self-mutilation for years after I was born and she was out of college. I think this song is amazing, and I can make the links to all of the names and the problems... except for JT and his alcoholism... but I'm sure I will... |

| Marilyn Manson – Heart-Shaped Glasses (When the Heart Guides the Hand) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I also think there could be a lot of references to Evan Rachel Wood as well, especially with the "little girl" lines. Maybe saying that, when he kisses her, it heals him for the moment from his divorce, but he'll never forget it and he'll still love her. | |

The one is defiantly about Dita. Even the reference to "blue eyes" is about her. In response to bathroom surgery, I don't see any fucking thing that points to him cheating on her. But okay, in a lot of it, he's talking about the wedding. "She'll never cover up what she did with a dress" Wedding dresses are traditionally white, symbolizing virginity. I think this is saying that, when they got married, no way was she a virgin. And I think this talks about how much their relationship revolved around sex for her, and then she broke his heart because he really did love her. I wish they were still together =[ |

| This song is about the meth addiction that Fergie went through earlier in her carreer. | |
| Marilyn Manson – The Nobodies Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
his song is about the Colombine shooting. No doubt about it, unarguably. The reasons the boys at Colombine shot up the school was that they were never noticed, they were nobodies. Read any book about it, you'll hear that (specifically She Said Yes). "Some children died the other day" Obvious reference to Colombine. "We fed machines and then we prayed" Satirical comment about how all that happend was it went all over the news and shit, and then people prayed and prayed ignorantly thinking that religion would save us all! Blah blah blah, let's rant. This song was also featured in Michael Moore's "Bowling for Columbine" documentary. |

Also. Trent Reznor is love. I'd fuck him any day of the week... ALL days of the week. |

| Nine Inch Nails – Head Like a Hole Lyrics | 19 years ago |

Alot of NIN's songs have alot of different themes and meanings in them. One of them is definitly a religous sense. Another that I see is heroin use, or some kind of drug. Probably heroin. "black as your soul" Heroin is black, and I can see how an addict would believe their sould black, or unclean. "I'd rather die than give you control" Yeah i dont want to explain that, just think of it in terms of a drug sense.... |

| Marilyn Manson – Count to Six and Die (The Vacuum of Infinite Space Encompassing) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
This is the most amazing song. Totally describes my life... heh. It's about a Russian Roulette based suicide. Six chances, if you're still alive by the sixth one... not for long. It's about a girl that has been raised as a Christian, but didn't receive as many oppertunites as she should have, and was used and abused by the world, and eventually as she darkened up, her Christian ideals did nothing but haunt her, and soon she ended her life. And whoever said this song is about heroin is fucking retarded. |

| Arctic Monkeys – From the Ritz to the Rubble Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Heh, this song to me has always been about going out and getting fucked up, and seeing everything in a different light. As soon as you sober up, everybody and everything is different. The people you met, the conversations you had, everything. It's about hating yourself like that and hating the people around you like that. | |
| Pearl Jam – Even Flow Lyrics | 19 years ago |

Oh man. I always thought this song was about heroin.... =S But I guess that the Homeless idea makes sense. But I think that the way a person acts/feels is alot like acting/feeling homeless. Or maybe I'm just tnot making sense. I like the homeless idea alot though. But I like my idea too. |

| Marilyn Manson – Disassociative Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| No. Definitly about drugs. | |
| Red Hot Chili Peppers – Snow (Hey Oh) Lyrics | 19 years ago |

As with most RHCP songs, it's about drugs. Cocaine, specifically. Although I do agree that it is probably about getting clean. |

| America – A Horse With No Name Lyrics | 19 years ago |

i'm going to have to agree with the heroin theory. This is very discriptive of a first time heroin trip.... Oftentimes drug use leads to self-discovery... While ongoing use of a drug does lead to eventually madness. I think alot of people are correct in different ways. And I usually like to overlook if an artist denies the meaning of a song, especially if it's about drugs, because I think that sometimes they would prefer to be more candid about drug usage, unless the song is blatantly about drugs. |

| Bright Eyes – Down in a Rabbit Hole Lyrics | 19 years ago |

I liked the idea that it has to do with Death. That the house is symbolizing death. But I think that the idea of the reference of vampires is absolutly ignorant. And the ideas of it being about speed are obviously not written by somebody who has done, or even knows basic ideas of many drugs. I think it's probably about someone, a woman maybe, who becomes addicted to *cocaine* and locks herself up into her home and becomes a "hermit". "Coered yourself in snow" Snow = Slang for Cocaine. "Did they make you stay up all night? Did they paint your face that pastey white?" Being strung out on coke tends to keep you awake and on end for days at at time, depending on how much and how often you do. Usually causing you to lose weight and become very pale. "You're thirsty but your appetite get's chased away." Cocaine makes you lose weight like a motherfucker. Cocain is also a stimulate --- "Your heart starts skipping steps, so you're farther gone than you might expect" Possible overdose theme here? "If your thoughts should turn to death, gotta stomp them out like a cigarette" Well. An ongoing use of drugs makes most everyone depressed. As does HERMITUDE! And also, if the previous line -is- in fact, referring to an overdose, then it would make sense due to the fact that people tend to do crazy things when overdosed, as I'm quite certain that acctually many of the world suicides happened during. The part that throws me off is the Butane line. I do know that Butane is used in alot of household solvents and fuels, so perhaps it's a reference to inhalants? |

| Bright Eyes – A Line Allows Progress, a Circle Does Not Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
Alright. Here we go. Theres a comment on here from a couple years ago saying that the word line in the title has nothing to do with cocain? What bullshit, come on, read the freaking lyrics. *I will now point out EVERYTHING that proves that this song is, in fact, about cocaine, which would make the word "line" in the title, be about cocain in order to make sense.* "to sniff, smoke, or swallow" Sniffing and smoking, 2 ways to do cocaine.... is swalloing an option? Dunno. "and your parents noticied your thinning face, all the weight you lost, all the weight you are losing" Ever seen before and after pictures of Britney Murphy's cocaine addiction? One minute, she's curvy, the next, definitly skeleton. Same with Nicole Richie. COCAINE MAKES YOU LOSE WEIGHT. End of story there. "you think you don't want to pass out" Ever done cocaine? Keeps you wired. No way you could pass out after a line. So. Instead of going around in circles... "that circle of thoughts you chase", the clock wasting away time... why not do a line? Definitly breaks the habit and makes things different. =] |

OK! To guiffporn and others: Jessicka and Manson grew up together in Florida, although he is much older than she. They went to high school together, he's the one who acctually inspired her to start a riot band. She was not one of his "groupies", although he did name her as one in his biography, which is one of the things that lead them to the falling out of their friendship. This song to me has mainly been about rebelling, with even (maybe) a bit of an underlying rape theme. Possibly some hints of abuse thrown in. Also: Maybe it's about her trying to be different from people in the town, trying to follow a different trend, or being "converted" to that trend, and at first being forced to understand (almost a "poser" aspect), and then becoming the ideal of this trend ('will you still adore me when i've gone way too far') and outdoing her "creater". This personal theory, could, infact, refer to Manson, as being her idol/her being his follower. So many oppertunities. |

I am so in love with this song... Definitly about Heroin. I was as well thinking it had something to do with her relationship with Twiggy, since I had read of his heroin addiction and knew they had dated. Acctually, JulyEyes pointed out everything I would have pointed out had I got to the site quicker... so, on to the next song. |
