This song is completely referencing weed, but I do agree that is also about liking someone etc.. But the evidence is just too clear: "A day rolled into one Is burning on my lips" Definitely talking about smoking a jay or a spliff. Plus the references to keeping her head in the clouds and the line "But in this smoky universe My mind keeps playing tricks". |

I'm pretty sure this song is about taking antidepressants or some other mood stablizer (Patrick recently told a crowd at their show in San Francisco that he takes Lexapro; http://www.spinner.com/2010/03/29/titus-andronicus/) and he gave up what he thought was true (or being his true self) and now he's like a... well, a robot, but he still hears that voice that pills just can't silence. |
