i live about half an hour down the coast from big sur (its on fire right now, eeps!), and bixby canyon bridge is perhaps the best part of the drive. in the song, gibbard is just trying to get the same inspiration out of it that keroac did, but eventually can't see things the same way. or something. i don't know. i love big sur. i love this song. |

this song just gives me shivers. it feels like its building up to something big the entire time, like its going to end with a giant orchesta playing. i dont know if he intentionally made it that way, so it could mirror the whole dilema with wanting this person, and what could result. (like he says in this verse-- "of so much wanting and what if - dont even think it but why not?") i just love this song. |

Hades intervened and Sisyphus was severely punished. for all eternity he was forced to roll a block of stone against a steep hill, which just tumbled back down when he reached the top. then the whole process would just keep repeating, lasting all eternity. hope that helps. |

i bought in your honor for the song on the first disc, but i keep listening to it because of the songs on the second disc. the foo fighter's range is just amazing. i thought this song was about a girl that he compares to the moon, but reading everyones comments, im not too sure. seems very likely hes singing to the virginia moon, not a girl named virginia moon as i thought. |

pretty much everyone can relate on way or another, but everytime i hear this song, i cant help but think how compleatly relevant it is to my life right now. im feeling so suffocated where i am (california) and i need to go somewhere where i can start over, "where no one knows my name" maybe even the literal boston. but on the topic of the actual meaning, i think its more that the girl he broke up with is yelling at him, saying she cant stand being where she is. shes the one who needs to get away and he is just a witness. |
