The lyrics need to be edited to say from the top of Tour Eiffel! And since the others are all place names it should say from the Spanish Main to Yorkshire moors |

| Green Day – Viva la Gloria! Lyrics | 15 years ago |

Hey Gloria, Are you standing close to the edge? Lookout to the setting sun The brink of your vision Eternal youth is ***the landscape of a lie*** The cracks of my skin can prove As the years will testify Say your prayers and light a fire We're going to start a war Your slogan's a gun for hire It's what we waited for Hey Gloria, This is why we're on the edge The fight of our lives been drawn to This undying love Gloria, Viva La Gloria You blast your name In graffiti on the walls ***Falling in broken glass and*** Slashing through your spirit I can hear it like a jilted crowd Gloria, where are you Gloria? You found a home In all your scars and ammunition You made your bed in salad days ***Amongst the ruins*** Ashes to ashes of our youth She smashed her knuckles into winter As Autumn's wind fades into black She is the saint on all the sinners The one that's fallen through the cracks So don't put away your burning light Gloria, where are you are Gloria? Don't lose your faith ***To your lost naïveté*** Weather the storm and don't look Back on last November When your banners were burning down Gloria, viva la Gloria Send me your amnesty down To the broken hearted Bring us the season That we always will remember Don't let the bonfires go out So Gloria, ***Send out your message of the light*** That shadows in the night. Gloria, where's your undying love? Tell me the story of your life |

Wunderbar. "Send out your message of the light that shadows in the night" -> "Schikte deine Nachricht des Lichtes in die Schatten der Nacht" --> "Send out your message of the light in the shadows of the night" Die einzige auf dem ich nicht positiv war. The only bit I wasn't sure about. |

The difference between thieves and crooks is not totally clear but thinking along the song's lines in my opinion it's this: A person who steals something he really needs (for himself or others) is technically a thief, whereas a person who rips people off selling them things they don't need is just a crook. Morally you could argue that these thieves are better than those crooks, or you could use other examples to make the opposite argument depending where you stand. |

I'm so high, I can hear heaven I'm so high, I can hear heaven Whoa, but heaven, no heaven don't hear me And they say that hero could save us I'm not going to stand here and wait I hold onto the wings of the eagles Watch as we all fly away Someone told me, Love will all save us But how can that be, look what Love gave us A world full of killing and blood spilling, That world never came And they say that a hero could save us I'm not going to stand here and wait I hold onto the wings of the eagles Watch as we all fly away Ahh Now that the world isn't ending, It's love that I'm sending to you It isn't the love of a hero And that's why I fear it won't do And they say that a hero could save us I'm not going to stand here and wait I hold onto the wings of the eagles Watch as we all fly away And they're watching us (watching us) They're watching us (watching us) As we all fly away And they're watching us (watching us) They're watching us (watching us) As we all fly away Yeah (yeah) And they're watching us (watching us) They're watching us (watching us) As we all fly away Whoa |

| Yes, to my mind it is clearly a father/son song but this has already been said earlier up. | |
| Razorlight – To The Sea Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| I think nobody commented because this song is exhausting. Not sure if I can add anything, but... the repetition of "The Sea" has its classical parallels to draw. I think the song is about a great longing to escape, together, and this not as easy as it sounds. | |

This song is amazing. The title seems cryptic at first but it really does sum up the song there is little else to be said. The guitar bit is excellent but I would agree the ending is outstanding - the best outro ever - and overwhelming. Also quite interesting when you spell out the syllables there's a lot of symmetry, 4 by 4 by 4, and the rhyming is quite different. It's hard to be absolutely sure but I think it actually goes: "I hide your love" instead of "I hide, you love" "You build me up" instead of "You feel, love" "And love me still" instead of "And love you still" |

The word is definitely zetas. I think Fortunatas' explanation makes the most sense. |

| The Raconteurs – Steady, As She Goes Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
This song advises you to settle down, because a single life is flawed, and a married life is necessary. It also warns you that you will feel that you've lost something by giving into this. You lose your freedom and your potential. To me, 'When you have completed what you thought you had to do' means all your pre-marital feats: study, travelling, career, wild parties... Once you feel you've done enough you can settle down (losing the ability to do these) and once you've been happily married a while you will lose the will to rebel, you will get stuck. This way you will also be at peace. Obviously in life it makes a big difference whether or not you find the right person, but in this song I think it takes it as read that the girl that he finds is the best possible one. |
