I think it's "and in death they'll leave just one pile of dirt" rather than "one part of them"? This is sweet, but a bit grim? I love the bit about being blown into strangers eyes. Nice imagery. And the bit about Oscar and Lucy rotting together reminds me of Wuthering Heights. |

Oh yeah, and where it says "Baby I won't leave you on the inside" that's like saying I'm not going to leave you like this, I'm going to help you come out of our shell - aww :) I could write loads about what I think of this, but as long as you take outside and inside to be outside and inside of your self or you shell, being confident or not, then you can probably figure out where I'm coming from. |

Yeah, it is :) I think it's about coming out of your shell. "He wants to give but he'll give himself away" - He can't be completely honest, or be himself because he's worried about putting himself out there, giving himself away. The same with the girl "She wants to shout it out loud but she doesn't" she's not being iopen either. Then the chorus: Don't you stay there on the inside [hiding inside of yourself, not being open] together we can make it on the outside. - If they are both honest/open/whatever, then they can make it. The bit about shining their lights on each other is a really nice image of supporting each other and drawing strength from one another. Or that's what I think anyway. Aqualung is great, I don't know why only a couple of his songs have become popular. |

| I love that bit about the seasons, that's just what I think when Autumn or Spring start creeping in. I also like "I thought it might be nice if we just talked til dawn" because the music makes me think of the warm, relaxed feeling when you're staying up talking with a certain person, and everything feels a bit hazy and drunk :) | |

I agree that the pen and notebook blowing her away represent how she fell in love with him for his song writing. I think the relationship is failing though "Your favourite colour is that of red wine, which brings me around to your favourite past time" sounds like he drinks too much? And this may be going too far, but when the stars are on the south/prettiest side, could that be to do with what mood he's in tonight? Maybe if he drinks he can sometimes be this sweet songwriter she adores, but also has a darker side "Will you stumble or fall tonight?". |

This is just what the song makes me think of, I don't know if it's anything like what it was intended to be about, but here goes... Okay, I've taken the 'it' to be love. And I think love is also the 'gentleest feeling'. Not smack-you-in-the-face type love, but when you gradually fall for somebody and it's just really soft, and in the back of your mind, and at times (like walking home every night) you sort of re-remember that you love that person and they love you back, and it's a really sweet comforting feeling. The part about the sky turning blue reminds me of once when I stayed awake all night with the one I love, and I suddenly realised it was morning and the sky was turning a really bright, clear blue colour, it stands out strongly in my head as one of the moments when I first realised how strongly I felt. None of that really ties in with the ciggarettes or anything, but like I sai, it's just what I think of when I'm listening to it... |

Actually, I thought this sounded like it was about God. And I'd heard that Wires was about his daughter (those lyrics would definitely make sense). Of course they could both be about his daughter, but to me this describes well how it feels when you've been away from God and come back again. "Lifting up all your soul, I thank you for soul" But its a very adaptable song, it could mean any of those things, and more. |

I like this. It's about the struggle of trying to trust God, and give yourself to him, and how some days you remember why it's worth it, and then the next day you chicken out. I don't know which song came first, but the last two lines are also in High Of 75, which is my favorite song for the days when I can remember what it's all about. Not quite there today though. Inconsistent me :( |

Riceball14: I think it's about realising how bad your life was (or how bad a person you were) before you found God. Then looking back, you realise that you actually hate your oldself. It's an awful feeling, but because you've got another chance to go for it, its like a new start (hence the sun coming up in the wrong place perhaps?). Anyway, I think that's why this song feels so positive, even though it;s about hating yourself. And you'd be surprised how much you can relate to God-stuff, even if you don't believe in God. God is someone you have a relationship with, and everybody can relate to that... |

I think songs like this can apply to lots of situations. Yeah, I agree it was probably first written about God, but you can totally see how it applies to a relationship with a girl or guy either. Which is why it's so damn good! I was listening to this earlier and EVERY word seemed to be exactly how I was feeling. Love it. |

Lazlo Bane (the group, not the person) did an excellent, but not superior (in my opinion) version in collaberation with Mr. Hay. The correct lyrics to which are: I can't get to sleep. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh! I just downloaded this after seeing the lyrics for it on here. Never even heard it before. Muse are THE BEST at covers. They put a twist on them that nobody else can, they are just amazing. I never thought anybody could better Creep, but they did it. I love their covers of House Of The Rising Sun, Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You, and Feeling Good... and I've just fallen for this one too. I love this, Muse covers are the only ones I ever feel are better than the original (this was originally Nina Simone). I completely agree with forfeit_the_game, this is such a dark, cynical version. The first time I heard it I was most definitely NOT feeling good, and I can remember walking across a field in a storm, and this song came on and I just felt so bitter! But things are good now, and I can listen to it and actually feel good, so I love it even more. So adaptable! |

This is probably coloured by how I'm feeling right now, but could this song be about getting the courage to tell a just-a-friend how he feels? He's waiting for her to call so he can tell her, but he's "torn". Does he risk doing what he was born to do (I love that lyric XD) or not? Just my lickle thoughts on an amazing song by an amazing band (or is it just the one guy?) :( I miss my guy :( |
