Tori Amos – Big Wheel Lyrics 17 years ago
Interesting reading what all you guys think this song is about, I immediately thought that this is about record labels.
She doesn't need their cash, she doesn't need their boy's club corporate meetings, she doesn't need to try and please them or build their egos, she's not an old washed out lady who can't sell on sex appeal. She can do this without any of their bitter pills to swallow.

Here was me thinking this was the most direct that Tori had ever been in a song, but maybe I need to rethink that.

Tori Amos – Almost Rosey Lyrics 17 years ago
I think that this song was directed at the state of America and the Bush administration. I think being in the UK must give her another perspective on her own patriotism and some of this song is seeing America from the outside.
Like was said above you can see commentary on the situation in Iraq, but none of you guys mention Afghanistan also and I wonder if there is an element of that in there too. Here in the UK we still have soldiers dying there and so it could have elements of the Bush administration white washing the state of things there also.
The other thing that makes me think that it is a little bit of Britishness creeping into her is that we don't do the "Have a nice day" thing here and so I wonder if she is kinda saying "come on America lets stop saying things for the sake of saying it, lets say what we really think."
Of course there is the feminist stance in there too with the comments about the witching hour and blonds don't jump out of cakes. To me again she is making a statement about using our voices, some of this could be directed at the record labels (I think a lot of ADP is directed at record labels) But I think there is an element of saying "just because I am a woman doesn't mean that I am going to perform for you in a skimpy dress with my lips pouted."

Of course that is just my opinion though.

Urm, where did you find these lyrics? they are wrong. It is;

I've been on my knees but you’re so ha-
hard to please, did you
Take me, take me in
So you are a superstar
Get off the cross, we need the wood

Efterklang – Step Aside Lyrics 17 years ago
I don't think these lyrics are correct, I think it is;

Dispose, Get around.
I suppose I fall off.
Access, Step Aside
I suppose I fall as I fly.
Make me say
I found a
I follow your sign
Straps and booze
If I lose.
I follow your blood.

?Fell off with a sign on, Singing with in?
Or
?Fellow with a sign on, Singing with him?

The last bit is a bit of a guess and I have put a variation, I kinda prefer the second one and it makes a bit more sense - but then there is not a huge amount of sense to the rest of the lyric!

Whats your thoughts?
