Just a little note. It's probably nothing, but Gregory the Great (that is, Pope Gregory I), when he came upon a group of slaves, apparently captured from the tribe of Angles then living in England, said (according to legend - it probably isn't true, but Bede said it, and it's a nice story) that they were "not angles, but angels". It may or may not have anything to do with this song, but it's just there, anyway. |
