My interpretation: I would l love to have had one more kiss before you died, at least to have enjoyed that blissful moment for one more time.Even though the weather is beautiful, it is raining and painful for me. The timing on this was wrong but we will meet again someday.Having left me behind, are you really free? The streets of earth are still behind you, they will always be here no matter what happens to the rest of us. I wish I could stop questioning why this all happened. You would rather cry and feel pain, yet I am crying and feeling pain but I would rather fly and get away from it! There's got to be a way to get over the pain and agony of losing you who I loved so much. I know!!! I am just going to lose myself in a giant orgy where there is a lot of drinking and drugs and other ways to forget all of this pain caused by losing you. The crystal ship is a most extravagant place where this great party is going to take place. I'm going to be having so much fun I probably won't even think about you. When it's all over I'll drop you a line. (Yeah right this was said tongue in cheek! The truth is I am going looney over losing you and I don't know if I can take it without using some cocaine! If I get loaded enough I'll think I'm having a good time and can convince myself of anything!) |

You've all said it already, but I just wanted to add that I think Bob Seger was the first to really do what Bruce Springsteen tried to do later. Only ting is, Bruce changed his style to increase his income, and Seger stayed the same and was true to his craft. And I was dying to tell event horizon that it was Waylon Jennings, but mistercrowley beat me to it! :) |

I always loved this song, but a couple of years ago my husband passed away. I hadn't listened to it in awhile and I played it the other day. I have a new meaning for the song now, I think it means someday, when the rivers meet the sea, we will be flying wild and free together! I hope so because he was really my "soul mate" and I can't imagine eternity without him. |
