Massive Attack – Splitting the Atom Lyrics 3 years ago
Does anyone know what the lyrics are to 3D’s background vocals?

Björk – Future Forever Lyrics 6 years ago
@[lebatte:32642] lol. It's hold fort. Hold fort is about staying strong, originally a medieval term, meaning 'protect the castle/home/fort'.

Bat for Lashes – Laura Lyrics 13 years ago
I saw Bat For Lashes perform this song tonight in one of it's first performances. Not sure if it elucidates any meaning but Natasha said before the song 'does anyone else have a step-son? This is the hardest song of all' which made the lyrics all the more baffling as the song is about a girl (Laura) rather than a boy (step-son). Natasha was very emotional singing the song - she had tears in her eyes throughout - which I've never seen before and I've seen BFL about 7 times before. This song means something very special to her.

PJ Harvey – April Lyrics 16 years ago
Love this tracks, one of my favourites off the album, although I have no idea what it's about....maybe in typical PJ style April is a fictional long lost daughter? Or maybe April is another side of PJ's personality? Love the expression on 'I don't know what silence means...', what is she getting at?????

PJ Harvey – Heela Lyrics 17 years ago
love this track...especially when the vocals get a little distorted and high piched...are they covered above? I'm not sure!

Hot Chip – Crap Kraft Dinner Lyrics 18 years ago
I think it's about an alcoholic family member or lover. The singer has pitty for them, but is washing their hands of them.

Hot Chip – Over And Over Lyrics 18 years ago
I know it sounds like 'Laid Back' at the begining, but it doesn't really make sense. the song is about repetative (but self aware good) dance music. For that reason I think it's 'playback' instead. It is much more fitting with the theme of the song. Even if I'm wrong, that's how I like to think of it, anyway!

love this - but what is it about?

Björk – Earth Intruders Lyrics 18 years ago
I don't really think the lyrics make sense. The title suggests that humans are intruding and destroying the earth - and most of the lyrics suggest that too. But then these negativ intrudes seems to do good things like 'shower goodness' and grind sceptics into the soil?!?!?!?

George Michael – Freeek! Lyrics 19 years ago
there are several samples on the song (about 5 i think). 2 i remember or Aaliyah's "Try Again" & Q-tip's "Breath & Stop" the latter being harder to spot, but it's there.

Björk – Cocoon Lyrics 19 years ago
yeah I agree with most of what has been said, this song is so clearly about sex. I don't agree with those who said that the line about him 'going nowhere' means he has left her. I mean duh! He has stayed with her. He has gone nowhere! He hasn't left!

One of Bjorks talents is that she sings abou very cliched themes - sex, love, independance, but she does so in a very original creative way. Also, I think some of these posts point to a dualism in our culture (especially by intelectual snobs) that anything physical is shallow and anything metaphysical is somehow 'deep' and 'meaningful'. Sex, even in it's most primative animalistic (& horny!) form is not shallow at all.

Riot Grrrl, I doubt the above passage is from a Marquis de Sade novel...it is way too beautiful!

Madonna – Easy Ride Lyrics 19 years ago
I love this song...can't believe no one has commented on it...while I think the arrangement and production is one of madonna's/mirwais finest (the strings! the electro twisted part at the end!) as this site is about lyrics I'll talk about them....

this is obviously about madonna's notorious ambition but also about her spiritual beliefs (not sure what religious tip she was on when she wrote this but it seems to be quite buddist with ideas about life being a circle - like karma, maybe this is also an aspect of the kabbala).

I love the line 'not defined by time and space, it's a lonely place'. Here I think she is talking about a few things, how firstly, every aspect of human exisitence is culturally and historically specific, so madonna doesn't want this for herself, as in she is some how different to everyone else. I also think she is making reference to how critics are concerned with madonna as latching onto current trends - here she says she is above all that!
