Paul says in an interview (Uncut 98) "'Cancer' is a metaphor for The Vatican, and for religion in general, and refers to my strict Catholic upbringing, which I thought was a pile of shit." |

love this song. Has a very unique sound to it. Paul(?) or was it Chad said in interview Uncut 98- "'Anti Everything' is about a bizarre encounter I had with a really aggressive tramp who bragged about the doorway he lived in." |

Paul on lyrics Record Collector(?) 98------People who can't write lyrics explain it away by saying, "Oh, it's my soul. I'm speaking from the heart." And they turn out stuff like, "Out the back of my mind's eye/I saw it flying through the sky/high in the sky/I believe I can fly". How many British bands have written that lyric in the last five years? Fucking every one of them. And the Lighthouse Family, and R. Kelly, and Orville & Keith Harris. Orville believes he can fly, and so do fucking Noel Gallagher and Paul Weller. They go, "It's me soul, man". What they mean is, they haven't got any fucking lyrics. |

"The track 'Six' refers to the Number 6, as in '60s series The Prisoner. But the album's named after the Pooh book, Now We Are Six. But the track to do with Pooh is called 'Shotgun' and that's based on The Vinegar Taster, a painting from North China dating back to 5,OOO BC. It features a Confucianist, a Buddhist and a Taoist drinking vinegar. The Taoist is laughing while the others screw up their faces. The Taoist believes tomorrow is another day and takes each moment as it comes and does not taste bitterness" Paul Draper, NME 98 |

love this song. You know they said Chad says something near the end of the track, and you are suppose to hear it if you play the track in reverse. Sounds to me like 'get away from me- get away from me now!' And there is something else I can't make out. Not sure on this and would love to know what others think. |

Maybe I'm bad with history, anyhow, what does this mean? "When Kennedy spoke you'd hear America sigh" .hmm.. listening to this song right now. To me, it sounds like he is saying "'Cause we know, my life is still my own." Did he get the title from the book "The Drifters" can't remember... I love this song. i like the 'feel' it has. |

Awesome song with great lyrics! I still don't understand it entirely. I guess I can't tie all the pieces of the song perfectly yet. |

Or if you listen to it with the rest of the album (UK version of course) you could add that it is about the vicar. Paul also said that he wrote this sound to reach out to his fans, let them know how he felt at the time.. he said something like that. Read so many interviews and I don't feel like looking up exactly when/where he said what... |

Paul Draper, the writer of this song, said in an interview that these lyrics were sarcastic. (While he confessed later on that his lyrics were 'gobbled gook') He said that they did mean something if you looked hard enough. "Lyrics mean nothing, don't right any wrongs
In fact I'm not having them on this" Sarcasm, obviously. |
