The Decemberists – Summersong Lyrics 19 years ago
DCFCAlex....i completely agree with you on the whole alliteration thing...there's not a single Decemberists song where i dont think of some kinda amazing vocab word or literary device, but this is certainly the coolest! here's my favorite part tho: how about "Boats Bobbing in the Blue o' the Bay"...and "all the dead Sailors Slowly Slip into Sleep" !!!!!!!!!
Whatever the deeper meaning may be, I completely relate to the general aura of the song, as I am really good at lazying about and watching my summers disappear...haha...oh bittersweet summer...

The Decemberists – Eli, the Barrow Boy Lyrics 19 years ago
everything musically about this song is gorgeous...and the message is pretty profound too...
it always makes me think of every person out in the world who works as hard as they can and loves others as much as they can...but still has no way of ever moving up in life. poverty, and everything that maintains it, is truly a result of the worst side of civilization.

im not really sure if suicide is involved or not, but Eli certainly has reason for it...disilluionment, futility, the whole lot...

but i still LOVE this song....
