hey guys I agree with cowleesa, i recently saw them on the last leg of their UK tour. Jesse stated that the songs were to be played as they were meant to be heard. They played their albums through in cronological order. When it came to the devil and god they started with 'welcome to bangkok' and finished with 'you won't know' This implies that the theory of these being the true beginin and end of the album is probably true! |

This song basically tells of how Sam feels about his home town of Southend on Sea. Im some respects he wants to leave as it doesnt have the same draw as the big cities being just a small coastal town. However, as the old saying goes, "there's no place like home" so when he's out of town on tour etc he misses home and all the things that he has grown to love! Westcliff Park Drive is a road in the town, i'm guessing where he grew up, and it is refered to as being a suburban lighthouse, symbolising that it is a beacon that shines out reminding us that we will always feel safe at home |

In an interview, Sam said that this song relates to a relationship when it has reached the point where you are completely co-depenant on one another. When you reach this point you have to ask yourself what am I doing in this position when before we got on just fine alone. But now its gotten to the point where if one person does something it effects the other to the extent of it being the end of the world! So wouldn't it be just better if they went thier seperate ways??
I was just wondering if the lyrics on the second verse are 'If this is the weight of the words' kinda sounds more like it. dunno may be wrong |
