It's funny. I'm a recovering heroin addict and I used to get excited when I thought a song was about drugs. Now I have to avoid songs that have heavy drug influences. Trust me. There's a lot of good music that's about or influenced by drugs. I don't think this song is at all, and I don't really get that feeling from any of vampire weekend's songs. The crime isn't thinking every song is about drugs ;P It's thinking every song is about weed. I can't tell you how many stoners I've talked to that believe most of sublime's music is about weed. In reality sublime's lead singer was a junkie. Anyways not sure why I typed this out. I guess it's because I find myself on your side of the argument now. Not EVERY song was intended to be about drugs! I used to be that guy you were getting mad at. ;P Or one of those guys. |

Heroin addiction starts out wonderful and ends up taking you... If you're too naive to think that this has to do with drugs then you should really open your mind. TONS of great artists were addicts.. Rofl wow you guys don't want to believe that its about heroin. You're a bunch of older conservative people and you don't want to come to terms with the fact that A LOT of great artists are opiate addicts... This song could EASILY be able heroin. Whenever you're on opiates all of your troubles melt away and you relax and are calm. You're at peace with everything. The morphine that they would give dying soldiers to make them comfortable is just a pharmaceutical grade opiate.. It might as well be heroin.. Heroin is a drug that very few are educated about.. People throw the word heroin around any time they want to talk about a major drug because they know people aren't educated... In the media.. On the news. I'm not vouching for opiate addiction. It starts out wonderful and ends up ruining you.. But you have to keep an open mind.. Especially when it comes to art. |
