Well.. "Does this in anyway seem almost like a continuation of "Guernica" to anyone else? i don't know why but something about this song seems like it could be a companion to it... " Io me.. i think this actually could be about his grandads death, like Jesse Lacey said in the Rock Sound artice.. "We had alot of people pass away - friends of our age, older realtives of our family, in my family my grandad died; he was the patriarch of our family and it hit me hard. All these things happened and it took us time to realise how we could deal with it, how we could understand it, and how we could incorporate it into the life of the band." I think this song is to sum all of this up, maybe not so much a goodbye to his Grandad, but i'll see you soon and that i hope your well kinda' thing. I mean c'mon, look at the lyrics.. "Until I awake, we just hope that you made it, we hope that you're celebrating, with people you miss' I think this in perticular is to his grandad, he hopes his grandads celebtrating with peple he misses, for example friends that this grandads lost, who he has now maybe met up with again in heaven seen as he did die....? "guiding our ship around this hellish shoal, i'm happy to admit that maybe I am a little depressed, cause i'm missing you to death." i think he's saying that his grandad is looking out for him.. and he's obviously missing him. |

No, Connor is 100% not an aethiest.. "When the President talks to God Does he ever think that maybe he's not? That that voice is just inside his head When he kneels next to the presidential bed? Does he ever smell his own bullshit? When the President talks to God? I doubt it I doubt it" I think in this verse Connor is trying to put across the irony of America and the people who voted Bush back in as the majority of Americans believe in some kind of god and/or pray...(talking to god) I also think he is clearly saying that George Bush believes not so much in the wrong God.. just a God who he has crazily invented....hiself. He is not asking God, he is asking himself. It's his own bullshit, and he actually think it's correct. It's his way of saying George Bush speaks alot of crap in my opinion. Also the womens rights thing. Whoever said Connor is saying it is not right to take anyones life (death penalty) yet is saying women should have the rights to abortion.. Think about what dirty_dancer wrote. That's 100% correct.. it has to be, or Connor would of been hippocritical. Also.. "When the President talks to God Are the conversations brief or long?" I think here he is been sarcastic, and imagines the conversations are breif, he's implying Bush doesn't care and doesn't think long enough about the decisions he makes. Take care xx. |
