C.W. McCall – Convoy Lyrics 19 years ago
That being said, I believe Convoy is more than a song- I can't explain it, but I believe Convoy is some kind of 'key' to explaining the universe. I have tried to analyze it, but it's like trying to re-contruct an atom. The song is too complex. Take the symbolism- 'a bear in the air'. Is this REALLY a police helicopter, or rather, a symbol of big brother's watchful eye, looking down on us all. This song, in the 70s, even predicted the computer age- CRASHED the GATE doing 98- who can forget Bill GATE's Windows 98, and how often it CRASHED!
I can no longer post this message, for fear of what I'll find on the other side if I continue cracking this song's eternal message.

Respectfully, this song was absolutely not a one hit wonder. From Wikipedia- Far from a one-hit wonder, McCall continued to chart with songs such as "Wolf Creek Pass", which hit #40 on the U.S. pop top 40 in 1975, and at least two other songs hit Billboard's pop Hot 100, including "Old Home Filler-Up an' Keep on a-Truckin' Cafe", as well as the environmentally-oriented "There Won't Be No Country Music (There Won't Be No Rock 'n' Roll)". A dozen McCall songs hit Billboard's country singles chart, including the sentimental "Roses For Mama" (1977).
More old country fans probably know CW for the sappy "Roses for Mama" then they do "Convoy" (think Christmas Shoes, you'll get the gest of it).

James Taylor – My Traveling Star Lyrics 19 years ago
Sometimes you find songs by accident- I like James Taylor, but I'm not prone to buying his CDs. I bought a truck years ago and it came with a cassette tape, which had the song, "Copperline" on it- that's a great song. This one's better. JT is one of the few artists left in the world that can do story songs. This one is along the same lines of 'Gentle on my Mind'. The comparison to his Dad, who he gets his wandering ways from (at least the character in the song does), is just plain great songwriting. Shame on you, JT, for doing another highway song! And thanks.
