| Metric – Calculation (Theme) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| She's reminiscing about a complicated and dysfunctional relationship. I think the 'bodies' are the two people themselves... they are simply incompatible. Maybe they started out fine, but people change. Though she wishes things were different, it's for the best. | |
| Metric – Hustle Rose Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I always thought 'Hustle Rose' was the name of the girl... and that essentially the song is about escapism. | |
| Metric – Poster of a Girl Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I always took a sort of feminist viewpoint with this song... A poster of a girl is this idealized figure (if you think of a portrait as a painting, for example, it can be manipulated to appear a certain way (by the painter), it's not necessarily reality) and the girl in the song is playing this role. She's not a real person, she's just a character and needs to depend on others to animate her. I always thought the tone was sarcastic. | |
| Arcade Fire – Cold Wind Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I'm thinking suicide... The cold wind is something that's bothering him (maybe a depression - just these awful thoughts). He can't sleep, tries to escape by taking a drive (to San Francisco, perhaps, where he ends his life - thus if you go to San Francisco lay some flowers on the gravestone). (The San Francisco line just reminds me of Scott McKenzie's 'if you're going to San Francisco/be sure to wear some flowers in your hair') There's music on the station, but nothing can take his mind off of the cold wind blowing (whatever is bothering him). And if they ever find him, tell the papers this is why... the cold wind, something wasn't right. |

| Neverending White Lights – Angels and Saints Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
We are all walking around waiting for the inevitable. I think he finds comfort in this... "There is a voice repeating the same Words about how my life will end" "And when they speak I feel calm" He's waiting to return to the "darkness" from whence he came, before "life came along and ruined it all". |

| Neverending White Lights – Of All the Things You've Done Wrong Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I first thought of it as being about conflict between religions '...matter of personal pride' --what I believe is right and you're wrong. How can God be on your side when you're suffering? 'He must have forsaken thee...' Or something like that. | |
