| AFI – Kill Caustic Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I personally love this song, and I think that it delivers a great message. It's not as much relating to depression and morbidness as it is relating to independence and being one's own self, being "blamed" by something that probably didn't happen, but is okay anyway. I really love the line: "Your designer drug won't work for me". It's a song that pounds into your head, but in a good way in my opinion. | |
| AFI – Girl's Not Grey Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
I really, really love this song. It was the first song I've ever heard by AFI, I listened to STS and fell in deep love for it. I also love the music video, and I find it to be similar to "Alice In Wonderland", and I'm a little surprised that no one has mentioned that. The girl is following the bunny, and I noticed that at first, the bunny is red, then when he enters the pink-red world, he becomes blue and the world is all red (and pink), which I just find funny... I find this song to be quite morbid, more morbid than a lot of people take it as, but I can't quite give a logical interpretation to this song. It brings me in many directions of thought. |

| AFI – Fallen Like the Sky Lyrics | 19 years ago |

I agree much with Koll, not putting offense to anyone else who has commented on this song. I ADORE this song, and I love the lyrics. I agree that someone (Davey, I guess you could say) wants to have one last thrill with someone and let them be who they want to be before they are taken away by savages. I agree with the fact that the "lonely wars" are afflictions with themselves that they are trying to overcome, and their "fates" which like Koll said are the futures of them becoming vicious animals are going to be forgotten for the moment so they can enjoy what's left of their freedom. Also, I MAY be wrong, but I believe that the lyrics are: "Where the strange creatures play in mystic caves of strange, disassociate"...it may not make sense, but that's what I find from the majority of lyric sights. AND: "The soldier's waking" not "We're..." If someone is completely positive of the lyrics, could you please inform me of them by posting them? Thank you. |

| AFI – Endlessly, She Said Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I really love this song, especially when they play it live. I find it fun to analyze though, because at first, "she" is waiting for Davey, or the person who Davey is referring to as the singer/narrator. He returns to her, and then, HE'S waiting for HER. Everything is now reversed. It's like an infinite search for each other. I find that they're both lost and never found. It's a wonderful song. | |
| AFI – Death of Seasons Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| This song...is just...nope I won't bother with words because there simply are no words great enough. "Death Of Seasons" is just so great. In my opinion, the song=our world right now. I completely feel and agree with every word of this song. | |
| AFI – Dancing Through Sunday Lyrics | 19 years ago |

grr, by the time I get to adding a comment, everyone already takes the words from my mouth! ;) I definetely agree with basically everyone, especially with tomb of flesh about "dancing through life" in enthrallment by new technologies and material goods but not realizing that your life is just wasting away. The gutiar solo in this song is amazing. Way to go, Jade. Way to go AFI. |

| This song is definitely magical, and it's especially great if you really know AFI. | |

| Aaahh...I love this song way too much. | |
| AFI – Bleed Black Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Thanks for saying that, crazy jake, first of all. I love how Davey finds the act of destroying elevating and as something that can make you "higher", and no, for the people that don't get it, I'm not talking about a high that makes you feel good. I see this more as a want to reincarnate and recreate one's self, but is unable. I don't have much to say about this one, but it is an amazing song. Just another normality from AFI. | |
| AFI – Advances In Modern Technology Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Wow, I'm sorry for that incessant talking about the one subject but that's just what I thought. Excuse me for that, please. *sinks down slowly in chair* | |

Yes, I agree with everyone so far. I don't really like to listen to AFI's older music, but I will present a brief elaboration of what everyone has already said anyway: First, (I am praying that no one will lash at me for saying this because it's an opinion) I think that AFI has evolved from beginning to mature and kind of screaming sporradically about...err, I don't want to say self-pity/self-doubt at all...maybe you'll get what I'm saying...well they, in my opinion, evolved from that melancholy, immature stage of lyric-writing to a more formal and deeper, almost more beautiful meaning of sadness (because a lot of AFI's songs now are dark). I can still somewhat relate to these lyrics. I do feel isolated sometimes because everyone calls me different and too mature to have fun at my age. I find it great, personally, and I do have people that like me for who I am, thank goodness, but what really gets me is the fact that my family is...a bunch of ding-bats, excluding my aunt and dad...who is going insane anyway, talking about how depressing and strange AFI lovers look (yes it's true...DON'T get me started on that crap) when yet I'm a "different looking" (as my dad would say) AFI lover. My family chooses to try their best to simply put on rose-colored lenses so everything seems okay. They're really in denial and tell me I don't understand. It's quite funny, but they don't understand the complexities of anything I present to them, and I think that this is the kind of people AFI is talking about. I do have *hope* and everything and I WILL find "a place" because I'm naturally optimistic, but in a strange sense I consider this like my own theme song. |

Then dance to it! It'd be awesome if you did. ;) I really like this song, and I love description of...just everything. It really makes a great picture in my mind. I will go with whatever opinion I want...I think that this does point to a winter scene, but I want to do some more thinking about this song before posting any more of my thoughts. |

| AFI – 6 to 8 Lyrics | 19 years ago |

Ha, I thought that the interpretation of this song relating to touring was great! I never saw it that way, and now it seems so evident. Here's how I saw it (I don't plan to interpret every line though)... I thought that 6 figures could mean hatred, money, pollution, carelessness, murder, and greed destroying the world, which is currently happening as I type. Our world is slowly coming to an end and it's inevitable. I feel like I'm in a new place every day I wake up - I hear something different on the news, I seem to meet another person every day, and I see something tragic every day. No day is ever the same for me. I could see Davey (and Jade if he helped write this song) using "friends" both literally and cynically-("friends" as in negative things/events that you witness or come to). I also see "the fire makes it all worth while" brining in a bit of light into the song, maybe talking about how people causing chaos or bickering over such petty things makes life entertaining at times. I mean, I don't know about you, but I laugh hysterically when people ever make fun of me or say stupid crap they think is funny because the maturity level is so incredibly low, but at the same time can get old and should have shame put upon it all. As for "five hours of sleep", I think about precious Earth and other things so much that I never get a full night's sleep, and maybe other people such as Davey feel that way. Society these days makes it to the point where you can't trust people anymore, and you can't pour your hearts into anyone anymore. When someone has been left behind you're expected to simply "throw the bones" to the side and move on, because you can't afford to stand still. I know, I know, I really DID stretch the lyrics - maybe too far, but the point is that THAT'S what I get out of the song and I just want to know if anyone agrees with me. |

| AFI – 37mm Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
Out to Seashore: You probably didn't mean to sound so...err...agressive, but I'm going to say that it's utterly rude of you to basically tell people how they should interpret the songs. ("You people need to diversify"). I personally agree with the Christian-esque interpretation to Miss Murder - I have thought that for a while along with a few other interpretations. You have no right to say what's right from wrong until Davey (and Jade if he helped write this song) says "You're wrong", which they'd never do because they DON'T WANT TO TAKE THE ENJOYMENT THE LISTENERS GET OUT OF INTERPRETING SONGS. You should be a little more considerate and understand that there are actually people here (like me) that simply want the freedom to compare, bring up, and contrast opinions rationally. Thank you, and keep in mind that no one is right or wrong when it comes to your own interpretation that comes from your own mind. |

| AFI – 37mm Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I see 37mm relating to the filmstrips of a camera (I don't know what they're called) and they're 37mm long per picture I believe. I see this song as capturing the soul, as a camera captures a picture. I am in love with this song and the entire album of Decemberunderground. If you really want to know, I wrote a short story on my entire interpretation and what I got from this song. It's almost like how I'd design its music video if they ever made one...or a 37mm mini-movie. Well, if you read it, please tell me what you think. I also enjoy the piano and his reference to "Silver And Cold" (I'm guessing it's a reference). | |

Thanks, JeffJackal, I couldn't find the symbolic meaning behind "31/2". Also, I don't want to start an argument but at the same time must say this: I agree completely with Denomonania. NoPo3ticDevicexXx shouldn't say anything because he/she didn't say anything about the meaning or metaphor behind the song, which is completely hypocritical. Anyway, I do agree with both the entire suicide idea (relating to the meaning of the song) and I like exsanguinator's interesting view. In my opinion, the interpretation wasn't backed up so well, but I don't want to offend exsanguinator in any way because I think that his/her interpretation was a good eye-opener for some people, including myself. |

| I'm sorry for all of the grammatical errors in my comment above - I got excited. | |
| AFI – ...But Home Is Nowhere Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I really, really love this song. "...But Home Is Nowhere" to me is an autobiography of Davey, telling of his complications in life. He wants to speak of what he feels, but it's as if everyone around him are ostriches, their heads stuck in the sand and unaware of everything. "When the director stole the show, who questioned his grace" is one of my favorite lines. I can definitely relate to it. I think of this line as someone who feels they have power over people because of a material possession or looks or a "normal" view, most everyone feels it's right to follow him, except Davey. No one questions this "leader" because they don't have they're weak-minded and Davey can't seem to relate to anyone or find someone that understands him. I don't want to say he is/feels like an "outcast" just because I don't view it him/his feelings that way, but I do feel a seperation from everyone else that doesn't understand or isn't willing to understand him. He remains alone because no one can be trusted...or at least that's how life seems to be in his eyes. I definitely can relate to this song and I tend to feel this way often. In this song, he has waited so long to find "someone" and waited for some kind of great change to arise, but apparently, it never happened. This song is amazing, and I don't even know where to begin with that poem...I love it all. | |
