this first time i actually heard this song was back in 1996 while watching the movie Up Close & Personal. I was only five years old at the time but even then this song sparked something in me and has been an important song since. Now that I think back and re-read the lyrics to this song I see how I could relate to that song even at the age of 5 and still today I can relate to it like millions of others. It is songs like this that I believe are the best songs the ones that while you listen to it you can feel it tug at your heart a little more each time. |

| Cary Brothers – Ride Lyrics

I first heard this song when watching a preview for The Last Kiss and like a lot of you have said that sound of the song is what, at first, brought my attention to it but then I kept listening to this song and I absolutely fell in love with the song.
When I think of this song while listening to it I always picture someone who had a lover but they probably made a mistake (doesn't really matter what that mistake was) and they realized after they made that mistake that they knew just how much that other person meant to them/ how much they loved that other person.
It also makes me think of a sort of unexpected or even a forbidden love. Like when he says "You saw all my pieces broken This darkness that I could never show", I think of someone letting someone in on them like breaking down all of their "walls", allowing themselves to fully trust this person and finding a lover out of it ...and when he says "Would you leave your life and ride?" I think of the whole forbidden love kind of thing ..like they might not have necessarily meant to fall in love with each other but they did however no one is excepting their love for one another so they decide that it doesn't matter...just leave the life that they have their and ride on to a life that they can be together.... |

| Bright Eyes – Lover I Don't Have to Love Lyrics

When I first heard "Lover I don't have to love" I just sat there and listened to the song and fell completely in love with it because it was the first time I ever heard of such a great artist write about this topic and do it beautifully. I have always interpreted this song to be a song about kind of a one night stand kind of deal. Like when I try to imagine the events in the lyrics happen I mainly see a guy and girl who randomly meet up at like a bar or something and they have both been hurt by a lover or something and they just need someone right there right that moment so they leave together and just have this intense passion, but not the type of passion you have with someone you truly love, the passion that you have when you just want someone to desire you physically and you just end up having meaningless sex that at the time is the best thing that you need at that moment. To me this song is just full of sex, drugs, etc. |
