firstly this song is one of my all time favourites by death cab. they played it when i saw them live and it made my year! anyway.. i don't think it's that much about politics.. i can't really justify that, just not what i get from it.. but i also don't think it's about "a girl".. i don't know what it means but i always just get the sense he's talking about something a lot more general. maybe along the lines of what jazzhands said. division and standards and things. i don't know. i just want to go and listen to it now! |

this is quite possibly my absolute favourite mm song. i don't completely understand it yet i completely empathise with it, as stupid as that sounds. it's just got that sense of hopelessness written all over it but there's also this amazing sense of resolve and peacefullness about it. he's completely resigned to the fact that he's on his "way to god don't know or even care". i think it's comforting in a very odd sense. it's also just plain amazing. |
