Absolutely amazing track. Have never tired of it which is quite rare for me! Think the train and line references are actually transport related and not drug metaphors. You lot are too clever for your own good. He's killing time waiting for his train, by torturing himself with thoughts of a lost relationship. He's almost torturing himself with the pain but has to hold on to it because that's better that the thought of losing that feeling which is the final end of the relationship. Killing time but it's Better than living in what will come and I've Still got some of your letters with me Or perhaps he's just concerned with the on-board catering facilities on the Northern Main Line. Not very goth though is it....... |

| The Sisters of Mercy – Marian Lyrics | 19 years ago |

Is Marian a specific person or does she represent the idealised notion we all secretly have that, there is someone out there who will save us from the world and ultimately ourselves? Is it referring to the need to find them, thus freeing ourselves from personal responsibility for our own happiness? What ever the truth is, it's one of the greatest songs ever written... |

| The Cure – The Same Deep Water as You Lyrics | 19 years ago |

A song only beaten by 'disintergration' in terms of beautiful soul shredding, disturbing music. Spent many a night listening to this at full volume in darkened rooms! The suicide suggestion is probably correct but could just be a metaphor for the intensity of a specific relationship. My hands before my fading eyes And in my eyes Your smile The very last thing before I go... I think it may be refering to the acceptance that a particular relationship will ultimately destroy you and yet there is an all-consuming need to continue with it. After all - we've all had that moment haven't we? |
