I have no problem with Sonic Youth because they have some good stuff out there, and are sincere fans of the Carpenters... however, their version could have been done by anyone. Thurston just talks his way through the song and they added some static in the background. |

Actually... this is originally a Marvelettes tune. Beatles recorded a nice version, but I'd have to say that the original, and Carpenters version (both of which hit #1 on the charts) completely overshadow the Beatles on this one. |

This is the absolute, hands down, best recording of this song. Christina Aguilera most recently tried her hand at a rendition, but it comes off as completely void of any feeling. |

Wow... that is a little strongly worded, don't ya think? I agree that NO ONE puts the Carpenters to shame. I'm not saying that others can't have good renditions of their own, but come on... |
