| The White Stripes – A Martyr for My Love for You Lyrics | 18 years ago |

Interesting that nobody relates to the title of this song, especially in combination with the last lines: "it's a shame; what a lame way to live / But what can I do / I hope you appreciate what I do / On my martyr for my love for you " The "martyr" apparently is somebody else than the girl the subject is in love with. This suggestion, namely that there is a third person involved makes the feeling I get with this song even more creepier. Does anybody recognize this? Furthermore, the fact that clearly people can recognize themselves in a song that is probably written with a whole other meaning imho shows the class of the author. Hail to Jack White, reaching new heights on this new album! |

Personally, I think the words missing should be "life is done". So the last line goes like this: "Will you be true till life is done?" How beautiful that is. |
