My god.....I adore this song. In a related story: I am so pissed off that it didn't make Stand Up. I'm equally pissed that there isn't a decent-quality recording of this song live. I'd be perfectly content with one live copy of this song that was professionally recorded and mastered by DMB's crew. But, my life is a never-ending shit-spiral, so there is no such copy....that I'm aware of. |

Me2: Climb out of you Christian box. I've got some really bad news for you: "Stand Up" doesn't refer to anything religious. It refers to a penis. It's literally telling the penis to stand up. It's yet another of Dave's songs about sex. Sorry. And Dave isn't Christian. Dave was raised as a Quaker. He and his wife wear wedding rings made of pennies which have been smashed together. Also, the pennies in each ring were those of the years Dave and Ashley were born. It's a Quaker tradition. But, back to the main point here: Dave has said that he is agnostic; he doesn't believe in any particular god, but he does believe in a higher power beyond human control and comprehension. Why do I get the feeling that you made some religious rant for "Rapunzel" when everyone knows that it's about oral sex? Not everything is about the Christian god. Sorry. |
