| Elliott Smith – A Fond Farewell Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| i'm actually finding alot of comfort in this song right now. A friend of mine just died in a car crash and most of this fits with him. I do give him a fond farewell, and he was just starting to get things right. RIP andy. | |

| Queens of the Stone Age – 3's & 7's Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I can see where this could be about Bush, as someone mentioned. But i really like the numerology idea. Maybe it's a combination of the two. Threes mean communication/interaction.neutrality. and sevens mean thought/consciousness (wikipedia), two things that Bush is obviously lacking, so since the song is about lies and ignorance, it could almost be a sarcastic title. Then again, i seriously doubt they were sitting around thinking about numerology, but you never know. All the comments on here have been really interesting, and it just got me thinking. :) | |

When my old best friend left for the army, i sent this song to her as the way i felt about it. Once she retured, we got into it, and are no longer friends, and it's still a real good repesentation of it. You lose someone either way. When she left, it was a fond farewell. When shit it the fan, It was still a fond farewell. It's never been what i've liked. "a little less than a happy high. a little less than a suicide" Either way, losing someone kills a part of you. It might be a little less than a total destruction, but it's still a life changing ordeal. Also,"Good and evil match perfect, it's a great romance" is the only line i ever think of when i think of her. |

| Zwan – Honestly Lyrics | 17 years ago |

This song is so awesome. I dont really think this song is about a love, as much as i think it's about the people we meet along our that really open up paths. " There's no place that i could be without you. It's to far to discard the life i once knew" I guess i think it's about those that you could easily say "I wish i had never known that person" then realize, that things wouldnt have been the same without them. |

| Yellowcard – Empty Apartment Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
this song means more to me than any other song I've heard, situationally, i suppose. I like other songs much better, but meaning wise, this is most appropriate. I waited and waited for my best friend to get home from the Army. she allowed me to live in her apartment for a little while while she was gone. I went 4 states away to pick her up, and we listened to yellowcard from that day after. When she actually got back home, we had a falling out, and everytime i hear this song, it just tells our story. "maybe someday i will see you again And you'll look me in my eyes and call me your friend" is the perfect way to put it. A few days ago, one of my 'new' roommates and i were waiting for pizza in a shop downstairs and discovered an unlocked door. We went up and crossed a dark hallway. On the other end was my old apartment building, and this song was the only thing i coudl think about. it's a great tune. I'm sure everyone has lost someone they truly love due to something stupid. |

| HIM – Poison Girl Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I've got to put my drunken two cents in. This song is awesome--1. But more importantly, When i hear this song, i can only think about an old best friend of mine that i always thought of as a toxin. I did everything i could for her, just because i really did love her like a sister. But when it came down to it, she was a toxin to the fullest. She was a poison girl. You could fold her laundry or save her life, and in the end it didnt matter. "I did it all just for her" Every time i hear it, i think about the things i lost and how it wasnt worth it. The song puts that time perfectly for me. |

| Andrew Bird – Heretics Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| When i hear this song, i can't help but get happy and think about past revenge. "How 'bout some credit now where credit is due for the damage that we've done" I feel like it's probably really about suicide to a point, but songs are more fun when you can make them so personal, and this one just hits the nail on the head for me. | |
| Hanson – If Only Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| "If Only" is the song that hits closest to home for me. It's about having that perfect best friend that you feel more for, but instead of saying anything about it, you never "have the guts to feel this way" for fear of loosing the best thing you have. | |
| Dispatch – The General Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I'm probably one of the least religious people in the world, but after reading alot of this, I agree. In the Bible, Jesus dies so everyone else can live and be forgiven of there sins. "the general"sees no reason for the men to fight a great battle, and takes all the heat himself, then says "go now, you are forgiven" it totally fits, and i never thought of it that way...It doesnt HAVE to be Biblial, though that makes the most since, i mean, there are tons of movies, books, poems, and stories written with the same plot as the bible, that's a what a superhero is...someone selfless and brave that provides protection. | |
| Dispatch – Two Coins Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
I think someone has died and he's having trouble letting go. I believe that the two coins are the coins put over the eyes in order to pay the toll to another world. ''I reach into my pocket for some small change" is him letting go, or paying the toll to the person to continue on, because until that point, he holds to coins in his pocket. Just a thought. |

| Jack Johnson – Never Know Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| i love this song, especially the chours. Society is so self absorded, but if you take a second and step back, you relize that all we are is moments. Right now is present, now it's past, there is no present tense, because as soon as it's here, it's gone. Same with people, yes, you can make an impact, but just as soon as you're here, you're gone. ''We're just moments'' best line on the album | |
| The White Stripes – This Protector Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
I'm from West Virginia and that is the only line that i seem to understand from the song. It isnt the Moth Man stuff. WV is a very small, closeminded place where you could look around at any walmart and find hundreds of exact matches for the hillbilly sterotype. Anywho, i think that "300 people living out in West Virginia-Have no idea of alll the thoughts that lie within'ya" is about not opening your mind, never allowing yourself to experience things. If you can't think for yourself, you never know what you're capable of. I think West Virginia is used because it is so small and it is so sterotypical for those who are your regular hilljacks. I could be wrong, but that's what i got out of it. by the way, it's a great song, no matter what it means. |
