I think this is about masturbation. As strange as it might sound like. - I mean hanging around by yourself having "fun" - "If you want to have a good time
Just give me a call". Comprende? |

I agree with the simplicity. Almost every atheist or disbeliefer finds themselves at a point when they are in love with a girl or boy who believes and then you have to leave the critisism against believing and take it to be a part of your life in a way. Cave has said that love songs are the purest form of making songs - totally honest and beatiful. And i think this si one of them. The speaker isn't sure whether to trust in the existance of somekind of god but it doesn't matter. And so he whisperes to the sky: " If you are there - don't interrupt. Please. This girl is mine and i wan't to lead her home and protect her from the world." And maybe he adds: " Oh and thanks for creating beer" :D .... or something like that. |

Some people said this could be Cave's worst song, but i think this shows irony and selfconfidence. This is, i think, his funniest song ever and one of the funniest video i've seen. It's great and at some points hysteric and sad someway. But a great party song.
Oh yeah and his dancing - I'm trying to learn it all the time.
By the way - didn't bob dylan do something like this song , i mean the long list about things in a song? I think this is a tribute to dylan too, and no wonder: he is definetely one of those musicians who've inspired Cave. |
