this song was probably not written about sociopaths, but it definately sounds like it! Sociopaths tend to be immature- "can you feel like a child?" and dont really grasp the fact that other peoples opinions really matter- "can you see what I want?" They are unable to feel any real emotional attatchment to people that care about them. Even family and lovers. - "Can you feel pain inside? can you love? can you cry?" Its a mental disease, and they dont really think that there is anything wrong with them, or the pain they cause other people. -"I know the darkness blinds you
Can you see without eyes?
Can you speak without lies? " -and they lie a lot...
The song sounds a lot like someone dealing with a female sociopath they fell in love with, and now maybe he figured out why she is the way she is, and then he felt a lot better to know that it wasnt his fault that he loved her even though she made him so unhappy because thats what they do.... they con people. |

Why are Desert Pigs and Golden Muses capitalized?
I really would like to know what she was thinking when she wrote this. |

So how I feel right now. She is such a beautiful singer.
I gave me ex chance after chance. Hes still messing around with this girl that used to be like my best friend.
And trying to mess around with me, telling me he loves me and wants to be with me one day, and her the next.
Yeah, I cant believe I let him walk all over me for so long. |

When she says this has been a hell of a trip I think she could be referring to when she fell in love |

About two good friends who might have had romantic ties, but one started to care less and less, and the start seemed to be good but the one person is being hurt by the lack of the other person caring. |

“My Insect Life”
“This is a Louden acoustic tuned to DADGAD. There are several overdubs on this track including drums, vocals, and my lap-steel part at the end. I wanted to sing on this song, but I hadn’t written any lyrics, so what you hear are just meaningless syllables.”

I keep saying that every song is my favorite. I was going to say that about this one. But nvm.
I can think of a million different interpretations, but the one that I can really believe is that a lot of kids aren't understood by their parents or a lot of people close to them. They think too differently.
This creates a lot of problems because, naturally, people want to be understood, right?
Parents and others want to understand, but see it like, " Well this kid doesn't think right. There must be something I am doing wrong." So they put the child on more restrictions and basically punish the kid for not being like everyone else.
Then the kid refrains from trying to talk to people about stuff that matters because it might end up badly for them, and it just creates a lot of uneeded drama. But it still hurts the kid because that separates them from people they care about.
Same thing with a person in society. If they dont act and think a certain way, they must be crazy or stupid. |

One of my other favs.
Intelligently written, once again.
Most people dont see what else is going on in the world. They are too preoccupied with their agendas. You could not possibly stay on top of everything.
So whatever is happening in your life, it doesn't really matter. The world will go on. |

Oh gosh, dont get me started.
The beautiful expression in the voice, the enthusiasm, the intelligently, well-written lyrics, the piano, the violin, the drums.........
I love it. lol.
I think a lot of people can relate to this song =] |

Probably my favorite one of their songs.
I wish more people would comment on their pages. They are such beautiful musicians, its so sad to see that an amazingly beautiful and talented band such as Pretty Balanced are pretty much invisible, while everyone knows who the crappy "artists" on mtv and fuse are. (not saying none of them are talented, but c'mon. we all know the music industry is no longer about music.)
I love PB. |

I think it means that she is easily influenced. She is such a small part of the world, and her view of the world doesn't really make that much of a difference, anyway, because people will have their opinions, and she will have hers.
People can tell her something and she agrees, but then that "chemical" is just ripped right from her when she sees another side, or she doesnt trust her reasoning.
The chemicals could also be referring to the things people say, and how it makes her feel.
Or hallucinagens and the words could be peer pressure? but I dont think thats it.
but whatever the influence she speaks of, she obviously enjoys it.
The song is kinda self explanitory though. |

I think that whoever is getting fisted is kind of a loosey goosey if you get my drift. Shoulder deep? Keep digging till I feel something? ugh..... you know if that were really what the lyrics were about. Which really depends on what the listener wants to hear. |
