besides the somewhat obvious allusion with the line "it's a bearded man with a wanted sign." directed towards osama bin laden, i'm pretty sure. as if we're just using him to make our pain go away for whatever has happened. i could be wrong though. and for the rest i've always taken it as the neighborhood drunk is just like everyone else, he can still be on wallstreet, but be a self-damaging human just trying to get the "same eternal weekend" that we all want and that we're never getting at, always following behind a dangling carrot. (reminds me of bugs bunny!) this song just really speaks equality and frustration to me over the question of "whose to say we can't just fucking change it?" |
