I know of no song written by Muse that sounds like it is to be taken literally... Though, being a faithless myself, I do like to think of this one as it is plainly put: the last thoughts of a dying atheist. I adore that one part... "Look through a faithless eye... Are you afraid to die? It scares the hell out of me" Beautiful. Simply beautiful. Never before have I felt so strongly connected to a song. Death and what comes next scares the hell out of me. Sometimes the end is all I can see. I am afraid to die, yet so eager to discover what lies beyond... I desire my most feared fate. |

| Here's a take on this song I haven't seen... Not that I think this is what it's about, but a little thing to think of... Vampires? Think about it... A Vampire falls madly in love for this girl, and it starts at the end... "Lips are turning blue," he ends up draining her blood and killing her. "A kiss that can't renew," the vampire's bite is also known as the "Vampire's Embrace" or "Vampire's Kiss." Then we rewind to the beginning of the story... "Tiptoe to your room, a starlight in the gloom..." He's obsessed with her, standing by her window at night, that sort of thing... Fast forward to where we left off, "Sing for absolution," he knows his wrong and pleads to be cleansed of his sins. "I will be singing, falling from your grace," pretty self-explanatory... I have more, but I don't want to write too much here. I'll just leave with "Our wrongs remain unrectified, and our souls won't be exhumed." Also self-explanatory. | |

| Been transfixed by Muse for quite some time, now... I finally went out and bought all the Muse albums I could find, so far I've managed to grab Absolution, Origins of Symmetry and Black Holes and Revelations. Anyways! I'm a very, very weird individual and that's probably why I adore Muse so much. I have a huge fetish (for lack of a better term) for vampires. Not in a sleezy, depressing way, but in a dark and romantic way. A vampire as a misunderstood soul... Er... Well, lack of soul, who is helped by a kind-hearted girl in his time of need, draining her blood and staying with her to make sure she's fine... Well, I'm rambling, but the point is, while I severely doubt the song's premise is based on this, I love to envision such a scene in my mind when I listen to this song. | |
